Lovely location, decent stay
This hotel is in the perfect location! We paid a little extra to upgrade our room, but except for being on the 5th floor, there seemed to be no difference between ours and the others which was a little disappointing. We also requested to check out one hour late, and they charge $20 per hour extra for that. They called us twice to remind us we’d be charged, and that seemed like a bit much. We had two cockroaches in our room despite being on the 5th floor. The air conditioning didn’t work. For the money, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again, but we still had a nice time.

Good stay on average for Panajachel
It was our first in Panajachel and we were looking for a very nice hotel with a pool and that was Porta! Now, I booked a room specifically with a bathtub as per description and turned out they all had showers. So we wanted to use the pool but at that time of year it was actually too cold on that day, then asked if we could access the jacuzzi or sauna. They turned on both. We started with the jacuzzi which was very dirty and probably has not been cleaned for a while and went to the sauna which was very nice. Our hotel room was very nice with view on the lake and noticed that one of the window was broken and they never repaired it. I also noticed that sound proofing was very poor and we can hear people outside and outside your door and next door neighbors. In short, I think it is a nice hotel for the area and I think it is a bit old and need some renovation and more maintenance.

The pool was under construction they had wood and bags hazardous. jacuzzi had to be reserved in advance and can only be used for only 20 minutes beds where hard uncomfortable

Decent place right on the lake. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything & the pool was under construction unfortunately when I was there, so lots of noise during the day — but a newer style place that had a good restaurant & friendly staff and walkable to the beachfront/restaurants with an awesome view of the lake/volcanos
