A Great, small hotel in the center of old Paraty close to shops, restaurants and the harbour. Very nice accommodations, friendly service, great food and everyone super helpful. We had a great stay, warmly recommend Literaria and we will be back!
This is a very special pousada! It's a lovely oasis in a lively and fascinating old town.
Literaria is extremely conveniently located, spanning a car-accessible street on one end and the old, now-pedestrian centre of town on the other. The staff are extremely accommodating, and a special shout-out to the front-desk team, who were absolutely awesome. The amenities (except perhaps for the gym, which is small. But you should be walking around anyway!) are top-notch. They offer a nice breakfast spread.
I would definitely make this my choice next time I'm in Paraty.
Paid 400 a night. Staying in a duplex apartment that was finished to a high standard and was extremely comfortable, looks better in real life than on the pictures. I mean it had 3 AC units, 2 tvs and 2 toilets. It was huge. The hotel is perfectly located in the old town and the facilities were great. Pool at night was beautiful as its heated. Highly recommend the attached restaurant for dinner. The farm to table restaurant you can get a taxi to for a change if scenery was also a nice addition. But the breakfast is similar and in general i think there could be more options for breakfast.
The only one negative was at checkout they tried to add a 10% tip on the bill which was cheeky. For 400 a night you kind of expect a good service but it wasn't amazing enough to tip as we were barely there so i thought was cheeky and the first time i have had that done (and we stay in about 30 hotels a year). You can remove it though.
I’ll definitely be back. The place was amazing. The only negative was the the wifi was excruciatingly slow and made It difficult to get any work done. Apart from that it was clean, beautiful, chill, and the staff were all great.
I absolutely loved staying at this hotel. It was tucked into a hidden fortress in the charming old town of Paraty. Even though the surroundings are rustic and bohemian, this hotel felt very modern and chic. Loved the breakfast. My room was super spacious, clean and comfortable. I have zero complaints about my stay and would stay again!
Beautiful place to stay, staff very friendly and helpful although service occasionally a bit slow. Lovely surroundings in the middle of a charming colonial town. We ended the stay feeling very relaxed.
This is the second time we’ve stayed at this property. We love it, it’s very relaxed has a cool modern tropical vibe. The staff is wonderful and took care of our every need. We stayed in one of the villas and it was a huge, 2 level gorgeous room, there was a bit of street noise, but it was fine. Definitely eat at the restaurant and take a tour of their farm, and eat at the farm to table restaurant at the farm, both are delicious.
Pros - great location, good hotel and pool area, great shower and comfortable and big bed (kore “American” style - not necessarily easy to find!)
Cons - *when taking account the COST/star rating of this hotel*, we expected better for: breakfast buffet (more basic - since the hotel is smaller it just doesn’t have a ton of options but you’ll eat), Internet works occasionally and not super well when it does (difficult if you want to research things to do in the area and don’t speak Portuguese)
