1830's Kippilaw-Renovated Shearers Quarters

Located in the grounds of the historic 1830's Kippilaw Homestead property, the Shearers Quarters are a dream country getaway for couples or small groups (<4). Set on a 400 acre farm, with 10 acres of beautiful heritage gardens, a horse, donkeys, alpacas and a shed full of chickens and paddocks where they roam free during the day, and with access to the property tennis court and pool, the Stonehouse is newly renovated, bringing together new appliances and a fresh bathroom and kitchen with unique historical touches, all overlooking the Wollondilly River.

Breakfast for the first morning (cereal, milk, eggs, coffee and tea) is provided, and guests are welcome to help themselves to further eggs and vegetables (when in season and available from the chicken shed and orchard/vegetable garden).

The Kippilaw Estate is one of the first grand residences in the colony of New South Wales, dating back to the 1840s. The shearers quarters within Kippilaw have been lushly renovated, whilst retaining many original character features that reflect its rich history (including doors signed and dated in pencil by visiting Shearers through the last fifty years).

The shearers quarters are in a private enclosed acreage, shared with the stone house, within the broader Kippilaw estate boasting 10 acres of secluded gardens, trees and hedging, along with an orchard, tennis court and a chicken shed guarded from preying foxes by alpacas. The working farm also hosts black angus cows and their calves.

The property features a pool for the warmer months.

The shearers quarters sleeps 4 across 2 bedrooms, the main having a queen bed and the second bedroom having 2 single beds, with a luxury, shared bathroom.

It has a cast iron wood fireplace and firewood supplied for the cooler months, and ceiling fans for the warmer months. There is also an outdoors fire pit for the winters and a bbq on the balcony overlooking the river, if you would rather a casual meal rather than using the newly renovated kitchen.

Full access to the fenced acre for the shearers quarters guests, and ready access to the grounds of the historic Kippilaw estate itself with rose gardens, orchards, a tennis court and pool (for use in Summer)(currently being renovated), along with farm animals (chickens, alpacas, donkeys and a horse). Situated in Goulburn, the shearers quarters are a 15 minute drive through stunning southern tablelands countryside from Goulburn's main street, which hosts all the amenities you would expect of a town of 20,000 people.
The shearers quarters are private and, together with the stonehouse, separate from the main Kippilaw estate. Guests are left to relax in their own space. Apart from the owners of the property, we have a resident warden who lives onsite, but normally out of view of the shearers quarters. Onsite assistance is hence available if required, and we are a phone call away if required.

Situated in Goulburn, the shearers quarters are a 10 minute drive through stunning southern tablelands country to Goulburn's main street, which hosts all the amenities you would expect of a town of 20,000 people.

There is a dedicated car space proximate to the shearers quarters.

** Strictly no parties, no guests more than the nominated capacity of guests per room may enter the grounds and unfortunately we cannot host anyone that is not a paying guest in accomodation onsite, on our grounds.

Nice little property
A great little place with lovely views, only 15-20mins from town. Perfect for 3 adults or a couple with younger kids. Communication with the owners was great and the fireplace was fantastic on a cold wet day. Only a minor inconvenience, no smart tv meant no Netflix, but we would definitely stay again

Brilliant
This is our 2nd stay at Kippilaw. The last time at the Stone Cottage and this time at the Shearer's Quarters. Our stay was brilliant, from the fire that was burning upon our arrival, to the well stocked kitchen to the spacious bathroom and living area and the view is something that you can never put a price on. Thank you Lynelle and Andrew.

Beautiful!
The homestead was so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing! It was so lovely to sit and relax while listening to all the animals. There was plenty to do on the homestead, from feeding and patting the animals to playing tennis. We had an amazing experience and will definitely be back as soon as we can!!

Beautiful country getaway
Absolute 5 star on everything. Completely faultless, from the gorgeous location of the perfect cottage, to the bacon and eggs for breakfast. We arrived on a cold, rainy afternoon to find the fire on and the cottage already cozy. Can't wait to come again.

Lynelle was a pleasure to deal with and very accommodatin. The property manager Darren was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. He even had the fireplace roaring when we arrived, it was little touches like this that make it so welcoming. My boys loved exploring the farm and feeding the animals. Stunningly authentic
After a blustery windy drive from Sydney we were met at the gate by the most obliging manager, who had lit a wonderfully warm fire well before our arrival. Heaven. The Shearers Quarters is refurbished in a most thoughtful and tasteful style. The hospitality overall could not be more generous- the kitchen well stocked and we helped ourselves to fresh eggs from the hen house and veggies from the garden. How Australia used to be. It's a privilege to have experienced this beautiful and authentic slice of Australian life

Warm, welcoming and cosy farmland cottage
Great property with fantastic views of the surrounding farm land. The kids loved visiting the nearby animals (especially the miniature donkeys!) and collecting fresh eggs. Tennis court was an added bonus. Cosy fireplace and immaculately clean, renovated rooms made for a fabulous stay.

Quality property
The Shearers' Quarters is roomy for a couple or a small family. There is a lot of natural light, great views from inside and a large deck to enjoy. We were visiting in weather with overnight temperatures close to zero but the interior could be kept nicely warm with an occasional bit of attention to the slow combustion fire. The bath, bed linen, robes and towels were all very nice. The kitchen is pretty well equipped and near new. The breakfast provisions were nice. You might want to take gladwrap/aluminium foil if you need that for cooking or storage. Some newspaper for starting the fire might be handy. While there are other guests staying on the property, you will probably have privacy unless you seek others out. The Shearers' Quarters has one common wall with a neighbouring accommodation but the common wall is only in the bathroom. There was a family with a baby staying next door but they could not be heard from the living room or bedroom of the Shearers' quarters. The country location is beautiful and this historic property, gardens and animals can easily consume half a day exploring. Those running the property were very efficient and pleasant to deal with.
