The hotel was lovely, with excellent food and attentive service from the staff in the food and bar areas. However, I would like to caution others when booking a room at the Pooley Bridge Inn, as it seems that Country Village Inns, the owner, is not fully transparent in their room descriptions.
For example, my friends and I booked our rooms six months in advance for a two-night stay. We paid the same price per couple, but there were significant differences in the rooms we were given. My friends were comfortably situated on the first floor, with a larger room, a Juliet balcony, lovely vinyl flooring, a larger bed, and a shower enclosure.
On the other hand, my partner and I, who is 6ft 3, were placed in a dingy bedroom on the third floor. The carpet was rotten, and the paintwork was damaged, giving the room an unsettling vibe. The ceilings were sloped, but the most bizarre part was the bathroom, which sloped at every angle. It was impossible to brush your teeth without your head touching the Belize window. Additionally, the room only had a small, bath with a shower attachment on the tap. My partner, who couldn't even fit in the bath, had to crouch and shower himself down using the hand held attachment as it couldn’t even be placed in the wall due to the space. The lack of a shower screen resulted in water spilling onto the floor, which could be impossible and actually dangerous for someone with mobility issues. It was evident that others had faced the same issue.
