This spacious static caravan is situated within a small campsite next to an imposing barn which dates back 200 years, with beautiful views across rolling countryside that is a haven for a variety of birds and wildlife.
The caravan has 3 bedrooms, kitchen, lounge/dining area, shower room and toilet. There is a free Wifi connection, shared swimming pool and the use of a BBQ. A range of paperbacks, board games and outdoor activities are available as well as bikes to hire. There is a private decking as well as seating on a lawned area.
We are in the traditional French village of Pérassay which lies in the unspoilt central region of France, south of the Loire. Pérassay is in the area of Berry within easy access of the Creuse, Indre and Limousin regions. The village has a small epicerie (convenience store), a bread van that visits daily and a very friendly bar, café and set menu restaurant. Perassay is ideally situated 315 kilometres south of Paris within easy reach of the Channel Ferry ports and main routes (A20 and A71) through to the rest of France, Portugal and Spain. Limoges airport is only a one and three quarter hour drive away.
The nearest large town of La Châtre is just 20 minutes’ drive away with a wide variety of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The smaller town of Boussac which is 15 minutes to the south offers a 15th century chateau, a market on Thursdays as well as several shops and restaurants. The local towns hold their markets on different days of the week offering a range of local, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, meats, fish and wines as well as clothes, jewellery and local produce.
Whether you are looking for adventure, relaxation, enjoy nature or local history, Pérassay is the place for you! We are surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, rivers, lakes and chateaux; there is something for everyone! The average temperature in summer is between 25 and 32°C. There are plenty of facilities nearby for water sports at Pouligny-Notre-Dame, fishing and outdoor adventure such as tree surfing and zip wires at Sidialles Lake. Walking and cycling enthusiasts will be thrilled by the surrounding footpaths and roads taking you through miles of beautiful French countryside. Of particular interest are the enormous granite stones at Pierre Jaumatre and the panoramic views of the surrounding area including the volcanoes of the Auvergne from Toulx-Sainte-Croix.
A little further away, Argenton-sur-Creuse, known as the Venice of Berry, has medieval style streets and picturesque walks along the banks of the Creuse. It’s beautiful surrounding landscapes have been an inspiration for writers and painters throughout the centuries. The nearby roman remains of Argentomagnus are also well worth a visit. The region also boasts several museums and art galleries where more of the culture can be gleaned.
There are several other historic buildings to visit, including the picturesque chateau at Sarzay, the imposing cathedral at Bourges and the ancient and interesting chateau in Culan. George Sand, the Romantic writer, lived and worked nearby in Nohant. In addition the local town of Sainte- Severe-sur-Indre is the setting for the French farce ‘Jour de Fetes’ by Jaques Tatti.
