Excepcional!
This hotel is even better in person! The service was outstanding, the hotel is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are really comfy & well decorated. The breakfast area is stunning with animal art/paintings all over, wonderful music playing and the food was delicious and varied. They even made “sagu” for us and this wasn’t even on their menu. 10 out of 10!

The ambiance and the location of the hotel were perfect. The grounds were impeccable. Breakfast was delicious and served in a beautifully decorated ornate salon. Would definitely stay here again!

Colonial hotel beautiful
Beautiful historic hotel in the center of Petropolis. I would highly recommend this hotel. For the cost, its picturesque. Every room has character. Enjoy the grounds and walk around the friendly town!

Fantastic old-world elegance
We love these kinds of old-fashioned, elegant hotels - hotel & room were in excellent condition, staff was very friendly, king bed was super comfy, excellent dinner in the Leopoldina restaurant - even though nearly empty, we enjoyed dinner very much. Beautiful dining room for breakfast. Good value for the price - not cheap, but worth it. We had a "suite" which isn't a suite at all - just the biggest rooms they have. Other reviews mention that the ground floor rooms are damp & dark - I didn't look in any, but could imagine that. Rooms upstairs don't cost a lot more - it's worth it I think. There seemed a number of negative reviews on websites and my expectations were a bit low - I was pleasantly surprised at how great I thought the hotel was.

This is a beautiful historic hotel. The grounds are nice. Breakfast was outstanding - a real highlight. Service was excellent and the staff speak engliish, which was helpful for a couple gringos like us.

O hotel é muito elegante e imponente e os funcionários bastante solícitos. Os jardins são lindos e bem conservados. A área externa do hotel é bem grande e charmosa. O café da manhã é muito bom, inclusive, com opções mais refinadas, como ovos benedictine e panquecas de morango. Nada obstante o prédio principal do hotel ser imponente, creio que precise de alguma manutenção, nada que invalide a estada lá. Tanto a piscina aquecida, como a externa estavam em condições de uso, porém, a meu ver, careciam de limpeza. Feitas essas observações, digo que, mesmo assim, voltaria lá, sem dúvida.
