It stands on its own grounds outside the tiny hamlet of Capraia and 2kms (1 1/2 miles) from the picturesque medieval village of Sillico, which has an excellent restaurant, cafe and shop. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. The living room is spacious, the kitchen fully equipped. A large covered terrace, open patio, rear terrace, garden, lawn and woodland surround the house, all with breathtaking views.
The area and what there is to do.
The Garfagnana Valley, surrounded by a horseshoe of mountains, is a paradise for walkers, with unspoilt nature and unique landscapes. It has a wide choice of walking routes, many waymarked, in the Apennines and the Apuan Alps, from gentle strolling to serious high-level hiking and via-ferratas. The property and area are also ideal for artists, photographers, writers, botanists, mushroom pickers ... anyone needing to get away from it all and truly relax.
What to visit.
Local attractions include the Orrido di Botri natural gorge, the famous Grotta del Vento limestone caves, the flooded village of Vagli, Michelangelo's marble quarries and the Tosco-Emiliano and Apuan national and regional parks. Lucca, Barga and Pisa are within easy travelling distance, in addition to the nearby medieval villages and hamlets such as Sillico and Castiglione.

For those wishing to combine work with a holiday, the house offers space, silence, the Internet, a desk and a printer. Meals can be delivered and childcare can be arranged.
