excellent but needs comfortable chair in room plus
Overall it was excellent-appreciated the availability to get clean towels & bedding anytime-nice fridge & micro wave/coffeepot-would have liked a washer & dryer available on site as I was there for 21 days on business travel-also would like to have a more comfortable chair in room for reading
This hotel is great. I love that it was formerly a YMCA. It adds so much character and charm to the building. The room was clean and comfortable and very roomy for my daughter and me. They were able to accommodate and early check-in which was just a bonus. They also had a woman on staff in the lobby (her name escapes me) but she was AMAZING. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and the city in general. 10/10 I would stay here again.
Incredible building. Its 120 years old and the architecture is restored. rooms HUGE- bigger than my first studio apartment- and super cool, view was amazing. Lots of dining options within walking distance. Free coffee and cookies. Check out the basketball gym in all its 1970stastic glory.
Incredible WOW factor. Forget hotel, id consider living there. The history of the neighborhood is a whole awesome adventure all itself.
Allegedly there will be a bar in the lobby soon, and POSSIBLY dining.
A few Be Aware Ofs
Bed was ROCK SOLID HARD and SUPER low. Youll either love it or hate it. I loved it. My gf did NOT.
There is no dedicated parking or garage or valet. Parking on street only or in the library lot. Virtually all onstreet parking in Pittsburgh is metered. I think you can re up your meter with an app but i wasnt smart enough to figure out how. Its about $2 an hour.
Its next door to a SPECTACULAR church, you may run into a few homeless/marginal people. Use Big City Street Smarts.
The building it self is so beautiful the old architecture and the ballroom and gym are incredible. But they’ve also renovated all the rooms so it feels like a brand new room. The church across the street is a must see inside It was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Would definitely say again.
The room was nice & spacious! I needed a room to stay in before my move in date. I do recommend bringing your own utensils; paper plates, plastic ware. There was a microwave & a fridge.
This was quite possibly one of my favorite hotels stays ever. Loved the building. The rooms are adorable and the perfect size. This area of Pittsburgh is beautiful. Will definitely be back!
I got there for my first steelers game and the staff was beyond excited for me and they were accommodating. I arrived hours before check in time and they took my stuff while i went wandered the city and even gave me an earlier check in time which i sure do appreciated very much
Our room was clean and had everything we needed. We had a problem with our code but that was a me issue. They helped us right away. Area was quiet and not far from the stadium. Would recommend, definitely unique.
The space was clean, quiet, and beautifully decorated. The taqueria around the corner was amazing, parking was never a hassle, and my room had thoughtful amenities and plenty of extras like towels, tea, hangers, etc.
We needed a hotel for a night and this was absolutely perfect! Really easy instructions and the check in was effortless! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to Pittsburgh!
This was a very affordable yet amazing place! It has so much character and our room was very clean and neat. Loved the design!

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service
The first time I stayed here I liked it very much. My room was good sized, had a lovely view of the church across the street and a desk to work at. On my last two visits, I got none of those things.
One side of the bed was almost impossible to access. There weren't enough outlets near the bed. The light switches were non-intuitive (and no instructions provided). The powere cord for the radio was not attached and was actually hidden.
Just too many quirks to make it worth the effort, even though the location of the hotel is great.
This was a perfect place to stay while I was at a conference at Carnegie-Mellon. I loved the character of the building. I was worried because there wasn’t an attendant onsite but that was not an issue at all. Check in was a breeze. I would stay here again.
