We have a 300 sq. m. yard and open spaces for you to enjoy sunbathing, peace and quiet on a serene environment, surrounded by nature with amazing views to picturesque hills, your own private olive tree field where you can enjoy your beverages and meals, amazing colorful garden and Mediterranean trees. Just a 3-5 km distance from the great beaches of Chania.

Our Home is isolated and safe, perfect for small family vacations offering all needed amenities. Professional cleaning services are used between checkin-checkout in accordance to W.H.O. directives.

The place is perfect for people that need to relax in a quiet and beautiful spot with great views and colorful gardens. If you need a place to read a book while sunbathing accompanied by the beautiful sounds of Cretan birds singing and many hiking routes at the nearby hills of the traditional village of Kontomari but at the same time with easy access to the short distanced beaches of Maleme, Platanias, Kolympari etc then this is the spot for you.

House is located at the historic Kontomari village. It has beautiful alleys and beautiful Cretan architecture. It’s a nice place to walk around and meet locals who will greet you with a smile. The village is located just a mere 3-5 km distance from the sea shore of Maleme region where you can enjoy the Cretan sea, sun and sand.

The nightingale nest is a simple cozy house, decorated with the traditional ‘Cretan grandma’ furniture that have great emotional value for us. The bedroom can sleep three people in total with a double and a single bed. Inside there you will also find a beautifully hand carved wooden wardrobe for your clothes and luggage

The second room is the kitchen, dining and living room. In there you will also find a bunk bed for two extra guests ready to be used if needed. There is a wooden table that can sit six people in total, a flat tv, also fridge/freezer, coffee machine, cooker, all the plates, pans, pots and equipment you will need to prepare any meal you feel like and enjoy your stay. You will also find kettle, toaster, oven and we provide various herbs, salt, sugar, tea, coffee, extra virgin cretan olive oil and various other stuff to make your stay easy and comfortable.

In the house there is also of course a small toilet with a shower. We provide basic amenities like toilet paper, shampoo, soaps, hair dryer, iron etc.

The outside yard offers various spots to sit and relax, enjoy your meals and coffee. It has an amazing garden with roses and other flowers, many trees such as apricot, plum, lemon, pomegranate, a private olive tree field where also there is space for you to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. We also have a big barbecue, two swings (one for grown ups and one for small kids). The house is literally surrounded by amazing olive tree fields, full of flowers and local herbs very quiet and peaceful.

The only thing you will hear are the summer winds filtered by the Cretan flora and the birds singing. From time to time locals will pass by going to their fields to work and you will be greeted with a warm smile. Village is located about 100 meters from the house.

--- LOCATION OF HOUSE
House is located at Kontomari Village. Nearby there are the beautiful villages of Xirokampi and Xamoudochori. Also just a mere 3-5 km of distance there are the famous beaches of Platanias and Maleme. Just some 6-8 km of distance there are the villages of Tavronitis and the fisherman village of Kolympari. In all these regions you will find everything you will need like supermarkets, ATMS, various shops, taverns, cafes, beautiful and clean beaches and other services. Also, if you have a car, nearby, you can find some amazing spots to explore like the world famous Falasarna beach and the Balos Peninsula and many more. A curated map with handpicked locations and suggestions of things to do will be sent to your email after your booking.

Distance to Platanias & Maleme about 3-5 km. Distance to Kolympari about 8 km. Distance to Falasarna about 35 km. A map will be provided to you with tips and recommendations for some fantastic routes and places to visit.

Schönes ruhiges Haus im Grünen
Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig am Dorfrand von Kontomari, inmitten von Olivenhainen. Es liegt etwas am Hang, so dass man, wenn es mal windet immer einen geschützten Platz findet. Auf der Terasse, von der man auch das Meer sieht, kann man prima ausspannen, grillen etc. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und kümmert sich sehr um das Haus und seine Gäste. Das Haus ist ideal für ein Paar, ist liebevoll eingerichtet und hat eine einfache Küche in der man alles hat, was man braucht. Von Kontomari ist man in 5 min mit dem Auto am Meer, von dort kann man dann verschiedene Orte mit Ihren Stränden besuchen. Es ist auch ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge im Westen Kretas (Phalasarna, Balos, Palecochora und viele andere). Chania selbst hat eine schöne Altstadt und ist immer einen Besuch wert.
