Very basic hotel. TV was not high definition; they tried to fix it, but after 30 minutes and three visits, the picture remained a square, compressed image of low quality, about 480p, distorted. Internet speeds were very slow. Breakfast area was under construction, so not hot breakfast, just a bag with a cold sandwich, yogurt, a banana. The lobby was also under construction, with dangerous nails and metallic objects all over the floor, at check in, from the tile installers I suppose. Coffee tasted like luke warn water poured thru cardboard, it made me laugh; the manager who made the carafe was obviously a tea drinker. But it's a Comfort Inn, so expectations weren't high. Bed was comfy and room was clean: heater blew fresh air. Super loud sounds from warer pipes in the morning. Reminded me of dorms in NYC! A topless bar is 1/2 block away, and area looks unsafe, poorly lit industrial neighborhood.

I really liked the room. It was clean and the staff were nice. The bed was very comfortable. What I did not like was there were no tv channels and the tv was static, the shower pressure was terrible and there were homeless people yelling at each other and bugging me for money when I walked across the street for a coffee. I would not stay in this area again.

Reviewed some comments before stay.. Agreed with the positive reports regarding the breakfast. It would be what one would reasonably expect and more.. Eggs and Sausage were delicious, wide variety of other continental type items available.. Coffee was not my favorite but reasonable plus Starbucks is < 10 min walk (I drank the Comfort Inn coffee all 4 days!!!).. Room and bed very comfortable for the setting. Front Desk staff very helpful AND we needed couple extra towels one day. The lady at the front desk assured me it was not a big deal and jumped to accommodate my request.. Neighborhood— Located in a business district with some Industrial bent, but easy to moderate walk to restaurants and stores.. Easy moderate walk to Old Town San Diego for wife and I (age 60’s) and major MTS center.. Was easy to catch the train.. “Homeless” as note in other reports?. Yes- seen at a reasonable distance.. not a issue when my wife and I walked to businesses, Old Town, and MTS.. IMHO it should not affect Your decision with all the other positive things about this motel.. I never felt unsafe when walking outside the motel complex.. If you have a car then it is Not a logistical issue, you are situated away from all this concern…. How can they improve? More choices and variety of yogurt, hot chocolate to make my mocha, more variety teas. I know I am being picky…
