Pelican Bay Cabin- Bayfront studio cabin, pet friendly, great views!

Summary:
Enjoy the tranquility and rich history of Old Salt Works!

The Space:
Located on the shores of Saint Joseph Bay and the Gulf of Mexico; Pelican Bay Cabin is the ideal vacation destination offering swimming, kayaking, fishing, nature photography and beach combing.

Spectacular views of Bay, the ‘old salt pond', beautiful sunrises and wildlife.

Our cabin is a cozy, one room suite with kitchen, table that seats 4, comfy sitting area with a flat screen smart TV, Queen Bed, and a bathroom with shower stall.

Our kitchen is stocked with everything we think you'll need during your vacation with us. Microwave, blender, coffee maker, crock pot, dishes/silverware, electric range (no oven), cookware, utensils, glassware, and much more!

Please note: there are no washer and dryer facilities on this property.

A screened porch extends the indoor and outdoor feel with a picnic table.  Sun and nature lovers can relax on the open deck overlooking the Bay.

Under the cabin there is plenty of parking, outdoor hot/cold shower and private dressing area.

Prepare your catch of the day with charcoal and propane grills. The access to the bay is a short walk down the main path of Old Saltworks to the community boardwalk.

The Loggerhead Run Bike Path is an eight mile trail on Cape San Blas that runs the length of the Cape from St. Joseph Peninsula State Park to Salinas Park along Hwy 30E/Cape San Blas Road, and is great for walking, jogging or biking and is just on the main road up from the unit.

Beach access is less than a mile at Salinas Park or at The "Rock Wall."

Pelican Bay Cabin is a non smoking unit, and is pet friendly for an additional fee. (dogs only please) Bookings through a third party site (VRBO), will have this fee added onto your reservation at the office.

Your reservation includes a $250 credit for beach gear! Choose from bikes, coolers, beach chairs/umbrellas, beach wagons, kayaks, paddleboards, and more. Best part, its delivered to the unit and is waiting for you upon your arrival.

Come and experience the rich, historic Florida Panhandle.

During the Civil War, the Confederates used a pond on the property to distill salt, which was used for preserving meat and tanning leather; in 1862, the saltworks were destroyed by cannon fire.

Pelican Bay Cabin is 7 Miles from both of these historic landmarks:

The Lake Wimico and St. Joseph Canal Railroad was the first steam powered railroad in Florida and one of the first in the United States. Peaceful visit
Sweet cabin… and just the right amount of space for me and my pup! Beautiful surroundings and felt like I was in my own tree house! The only down side for me was the 15 steps to get up to the cabin… but still no regrets! Thanks for providing such a comfortable space.

We didn’t make it
Our trip was cancelled (by us) at the last minute. We didn’t get to experience the cabin on the cape. Im leaving a positive review though because it just doesn’t feel right to give less than perfect without any basis.

Pristine Woods And Water
Was looking for an Old Florida vacation, and this was a perfect one. No hotels, condos, or traffic...very natural. Even saw 2 deer at the state park at the end of Cape San Blas! Cabin was clean and had all the basic necessities. Will be back!

Great little cabin
Love the intimate private setting of it. Was under the impression we may have some sort of dock access but that wasn’t the case. It didn’t affect our stay in the grand scheme of things though.

Winter Get Away
Cute, quiet cabin. The number 8 could be more prominent on the cabin. It would have been almost impossible to find if it had been dark outside and darkness comes early in the winter.

Adorable rustic cabin
The property and location are amazing. The history of the saltworks is fascinating. However, it's a little too close to the noise of the neighbors pool, which took away from the secluded retreat.

perfect spot as a secondary, pet friendly place for 2
The Pelican Bay Cabin was the perfect spot for my husband and me with our dog. My extended family was renting a home on the beach side of Cape San Blas but it did not allow dogs so this was a great addition to having the best of both worlds. Beach and a private space for us.

Cute cabin and well priced
Overall the cabin was a good value for the price and we enjoyed our stay at Cape San Blas. It was clean and what we expected inside from the pictures listed. The cabin was one main room with a queen bed in the corner and a small kitchen. It was enough room for me and my husband and our two small dogs. We liked the wooded lot and the views of the bay. The first two nights were peaceful and lovely but the last two days were not as enjoyable as a family checked into the house that is right next to the cabin and made a lot of noise in the pool. We couldn’t see them which was good as the area has a fence and bushes but we could hear everything they said and it was a stark contrast from the first two days of quiet. We loved the outdoor shower and used it exclusively instead of the one inside. The bathroom is not pictured on the website and it is quite small and not decorated. It was clean and worked fine but we much preferred the outdoor shower. The listing suggested access to a dock and the bay. However, one dock has restricted access to the before mentioned house and the other dock had a large sign that is was under repair. It was hot when we were there and we were worried about the small AC unit in the window. However, we were pleasantly surprised that it worked well and kept the small space cool. We weren’t able to reach the property manager on the Sunday before we checked out. We have our own vacation home and use a property manager and it is our is expectation that they are available 24/7. It wasn’t an emergency- we were asking for a late check out but just be warned that you might not get a timely response. We booked this little cabin at the last minute. It had no reviews and we weren’t sure what we were walking into. It was a positive experience minus the noisy neighbors. We were there on a holiday weekend so we assumed it would be busy on the Cape. We would probably return here but most likely in low season when there is less likelihood of someone using the house next-door.

Peaceful park like setting
Beautiful view. The boardwalk you see in picture does not go with this cabin. Cabin boardwalk access is a short stroll to the left, then right of cabin. Perfect for fur babies to walk before getting to water. Cabin has adequate space for 2 smaller adults and two small dogs.
