We have created a custom local West End guide that includes our favorite haunts for you to peruse upon arrival. The West End is a very friendly, safe neighborhood. Don't hesitate to say hi! The location is close to the old port shops, art galleries and the city's many restaurants, yet it's located in Portland's historic district, one of the safest and most beautiful areas in the city. Walking distance to Mercy Hospital and Maine Medical Center and a short drive to the Maine College of Art and the University of Southern Maine. Beautiful Harborview Park overlooks the Portland Waterfront and is 500 feet away. It is a 3-minute walk to a curated neighborhood market and restaurant called Little Giant where you can buy fine wines/beer, sandwiches, pastries, and other sundries. The restaurant serves continental European cuisine. A 10-minute walk will bring you to Rosemont market where you will find groceries, local organic produce, wine/beer, and sandwiches. A juice bar (Farm Truck Juice) is right next door to Rosemont, serving organic cold-pressed juices. Want some pizza? Try Bonobo pizza right across the street from Rosemont serving wood fired pizza and local beer. Want to visit one of Portland’s oldest bars? Head over to Ruski’s…it’s just a 2-minute walk. You’ll find a local crowd here with pub-style food and friendly service. The Danforth Inn is just a few minutes walk away and boasts some of the finest dining and cocktails in Portland. Go here and at least have a drink in the bar; you will not be disappointed. One last you love breakfast sandwiches, walk a few blocks over to Ohno Cafe and try one of their award-winning sandwiches.
Plenty of free parking on the street is readily available as there are no meters in the West End. You can utilize Uber or taxi companies to get to and from the property while you are here. Portland is also very bicycle friendly if you want to bring bikes along. There is a city bus line that has a stop right around the corner from the property.
The property is a rock's throw from Portland's historic Danforth street corridor, the most popular walking route from the West End to the Old Port. Nearby are two playgrounds if you are traveling with children as well as the Reiche Elementary School play fields. Maine Medical Center is a half mile away in case of any emergencies.
