Breathtaking View
The hotel is located in the core of the excitement. The view over the Duero is breathtaking, you can walk and find very good food restaurants. The service is amazing, the breakfast is outstanding. The room is basic but very clean, it is too small but quiet. I will recommend it, I’m giving four stars because the entrance to the hotel is in a crowded pedestrian street where the antique area is.

Three night stay for my wife and I. Checkin was easy. The location—right next to the river—was spectacular, and it was pretty quiet in spite of all the goings-on nearby. It was very secure, as well, given that we were right in the thick of things. The room was modern and clean, with a very comfy bed. The breakfast was outstanding! The two guys who took care of us—one in the afternoon/evening and one in the morning for breakfast—were absolutely super people. So kind and so helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Wow - what an amazing experience!
We have NEVER received the top-notch customer service we received at Guest House Douro. Luisa and Luis - talk about a dream team!!! Everything from their help advising us on things to see in Porto, to the positive and welcoming attitude all/every day - the BEST! The cleaning staff is amazing - wonderfully clean and welcoming room every day in our 3-night stay. Breakfast was a joy - lovely setting and amazing fruits! The room is small, but honestly it did not affect us in any way - the central location was just incredible. Parking was a slight challenge as there are 2 paid lots nearby, but the less expensive one filled up and we were left with a pretty hefty parking bill at the end - didn't matter - still worth it! We'd return here ANY/EVERY time. Thanks so much for making Porto one of our favorite stops in Portugal!

What an amazing find!
The service was impeccable. Luís would’ve done anything to make our stay more comfortable and pleasant. Breakfast was such a delightful surprise and so good! The hotel was clean and comfortable and in a great location. The rooms are very small, but I understand that comes with it being a guesthouse in old Porto. It just made it difficult with all our luggage.

This property was the perfect spot in Porto for my wife and I. The location was practically right on the water and on a narrow street which made it feel super romantic. Luís checked us in and he was very friendly and helpful. This man went above and beyond to help us and make us feel welcomed every time we saw us. He was the highlight of our stay ! If you are trying to do anything up in Porto and plan on staying here be prepared to walk up lots of hills. However walking along the river both in Porto and Gaia we simply had to walk out the front door. Breakfast was a typical euro hotel breakfast in a small room. Only three seatings so you need to reserve your breakfast time the day before. Rooms were nicely appointed though no mini fridge (which we didn’t mind). They were small and certainly not meant for more than two people. We had a room on the street side and were fortunate enough to get the only room with a balcony! If you are coming to Porto with your partner and are looking for a romantic spot, looking no further than here!

What a fantastic small hotel. We LOVED the staff, both Louis and Louisa were top notch, making arrangements, helping with dinner options and the morning breakfast was a beautiful mix of fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, coffee and yogurt. We chose river view room, and while small, the windows opened to enjoy both day and night views of the Douro river and all the activity. The location is fantastic, and makes for a great home base to enjoy your visit in Porto. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Fabulous Guest House Douro
We don’t normally leave reviews but Guest House Douro warrants a few words of praise. The whole team, including Louisa and Luis in particular, made our stay so enjoyable. When we needed help nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are spotless, breakfast service excellent, and the location is perfect to enjoy all that Porto has to offer. Thank you Guest House Douro, you are one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. We hope to be back again soon.
