From the moment we arrived, we were treated so well by the lovely staff. Bruna was awesome. She knew we had spent a night in Porto before checking in to the hotel and yet she gave us a map and outlined must see places and gave us restaurant recommendations. The other 5 star hotel we stayed at never bothered. Every time we walked into the reception area the staff stood up out of respect., Russ was also fantastic! The hotel’s breakfast was excellent. Each room represents a writer or poet and there are books throughout the hotel and hanging creatively from the ceiling in the reception and library. We will definitely come back and stay here again.

Everything about this hotel is pleasant: staff cheerful and attentive to every guest need, proximity to sites and restaurants, nicely appointed rooms, and generous and tasty breakfasts. I would recommend it as the main lodging to consider when visiting Porto.

Fabulous hotel
A truly lovely stay at the Torel Palace. A beautiful building, large, spacious rooms which were very clean and the service was faultless. Little touches like turndown service, we got champagne and delicious sweets on arrival and again on our last night. The breakfast was really good, a good selection of hot and cold dishes. Great location, very central to everything.

I loved staying here! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They gave us restaurant recommendations, set up a Tuk Tuk tour of the city, and set up transportation and a visit to a wine tasting in Douro valley. The hotel was comfortable, clean, pretty, and nice. The spa was cute and I had a nice massage. The little library for meals was also great. We didn’t get to swim in the pool but it looked lovely. The location was central to many things but it was further up the hill and tucked away compared to the river side where it seemed was all the energy and crowds.

Beautiful hotel that blends old and new. Gorgeous decor. Thoughtful staff. Comfortable and impressive rooms. Many amenities. Honestly one of the best stays I have had in Europe; we had a family suite, which allowed us to partition space and give everyone privacy in what felt like very opulent yet comfortable surroundings. Highly recommend.
