As we arrived they were working on the place, and we found out it was recently purchased and under new ownership. After we checked in we were informed that we would have to wait, as they were painting the doorway to our room, so we sat in our car and waited for about 20 mins. As we were waiting, one of the owners approached our car and told us that the police would arrive soon to evict a troublesome tenant, and that we shouldn’t be alarmed. We were alarmed. Then we were told to be careful as we entered because the paint was still wet. Overall, it took about 40 mins to finally get settled in our room. We always do a room inspection when we check in, and we found dirt in the bathtub and what appeared to be remnants of someone’s shaving in the sink. Later we tried to use the remote to turn on the TV, and it wouldn’t work(turned out to be batteries). The tank to the toilet ran all night, after they looked at it. I had to shut the valve off so we could sleep.
We got many apologies, and they did attempt to fix all the problems, but that was it. An offer of a small discount for the night would have made this all better.
I would also suggest improving the “grab and go breakfast”. It had Kurig coffee(yuk) and Dunkin muffins(meh). With all the great bakeries and coffee available in the area, why not go local and bring in the good stuff?
We think this place has great potential, the new owners are doing a lot of work to the place, but our first experience could have been better.
