Hotel Providence is a gem of a hotel! It is our go-to place to stay whenever we attend a show at the PPAC. (The theatre is literally a 5-minute walk done the street.) The hotel has an elegant, old-world vibe that we just love. The rooms are immaculate, the beds are super comfy, there is a nice gym, and the staff is helpful and genuinely friendly. We need to give a special shout-out to Elizabeth, who was incredibly welcoming and attentive when we first arrived. Then, later, when we walked in the door after seeing Life of Pi (a great play!), Elizabeth again greeted us with her beautiful smile and asked how the show was. She reminded us that coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies (delicious!) were available, and would we like a water or a soda? I also want to mention that upon check-in, we were given an upgrade which was a wonderful surprise, and we loved staying in the Nathaniel Hawthorne suite. We also received a $15 food chip which we used at the on-site restaurant. The food was great, and Nathaniel, our server, gave us exceptional service. We are really looking forward to staying at the Hotel Providence again soon!

I would definitely stay again but we stayed in a suite that was not taken care of very well. Shower tiles coming of the wall, TV in bedroom as difficult to use as the remote had a hard time seeing the infrared sensor so was not responsive. Various pieces of furniture in not great shape. That said, the suite was clean, quiet and comfortable and a good value.

Super Friendly Staff Made Our Stay a Pleasure

From start to finish - Bellman at the door to front desk, dining servers and the General Manager - staff at this hotel were exceptionally friendly, helpful (knowledgeable) and made our stay a pleasure. That’s a true exception these days and we appreciated it. The location was great, although temporary road construction made getting there a bit convoluted. There was a lovely courtyard with gardens and a fountain that will be pretty in the spring. Bed was comfortable, room very clean.

Very simple (but appropriately so) classical hotel...nice condition and layout...rooms good size and classically decorated yet w modern amenities...front desk staff helpful but unpolished...valet option was BIG benefit and reasonably priced...good downtown location but quiet inside hotel

great room ... just have some questions...

Everything was great, except 2 things.... there was a dog in the room across the hall and although he only barked twice, my son, who has "dog issues", was freaked out.. Also, there was a $22 service fee that I thought had been done away with. In addition to that fee, I left a tip for the cleaning person and the valet... where does that $22 service fee go...

Awful experience.

Tv in room didn’t work. Phone in room didn’t work. Shower leaked all over the floor. Construction with extremely loud power tools during breakfast right next to us on a Sunday morning. My 8, and 3 year old looked out our room window to see people shooting up heroin. I would never stay there again. All around awful experience.

I found this Wyndham hotel to be excellent. Front desk service was more than accommodating . Offered us complimentary soft drinks /water to take up to our rooms. Coffee/tea was set up in the lobby including a wonderful Hot Chocolate station available from around noon till 9 or 10pm. Choice of mix-in’s were marshmallows, chocolate chips, butterfinger. Lovely touch! This hotel does charge a property fee of $22 ( inclusive of tax) but they have started including a complimentary continental breakfast so we didn’t mind. The breakfast was more than adequate with egg sandwich, French toast sticks, hash brown Patty, assorted pastries, bagels, yogurt, granola and fresh fruit mix-ins. Also coffee, tea and juices. Wonderful location to stay if you are attending Providence Performing Art Center as it is a short walk down the street. Hotel is located close to many nice restaurants, bars and other theaters. We ate at Blakes Irish Bar for late night snack. Wonderful and very reasonably priced. Room was very comfortable with a large bathroom that was nicely appointed. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff were hard to find and when they were there, minimal support was given. When we asked for extra sheets for our pull out couch what arrived was a mattress sheet (fitted sheet)… nothing else. The two TVs didn’t work even when they said they would fix them. We found trash under the bed too.

The room had no heat when we got there. They had to change the thermostats and do something else to the heater. You would think that’s done and checked before guest check in. Also the towels had dark brown marks on them. The valet people sat in the chairs in the common area just hanging out and not at the valet station. The valet key box was unlocked and open for anyone to just walk up take keys since no one was ever around to see. They also don’t tell you the 40$ fee for valet and the garage they put the car in for you is less than a 2 minute walk if you wanted to do that yourself. They charge you 10 extra dollars than the garage charges that they put your car in. It’s an ok hotel. The area it’s in is perfect and walking distance to bars, clubs, mall and restaurants. Location would be the only really good thing about this hotel.

Decent, concerning detail

Heat was broken, they gave us a space heater upon request. That was outside of their control but the next morning at the breakfast there was mold on the pastry. Maybe when the hotel is more populated they’re more attentive to these details but I’m not going to come back.

Well, a dog has been barking across the hall for the last 4 hours and people slamming doors all night with a drunk wedding party. I was told it was the brides dog so apparently I’m not a priority. Meanwhile I have a very tired cheerleader that was here all day performing at the convention center and she has her final competition in the morning. I hope she can get some sleep tonight. I will likely not stay here again as we were not valued the same as other guests.
