The staff at this resort are all wonderful. The food is great, it was hard to get reservations at the sit down restaurants but we did go over New Years which I think is a lot busier. They have two other restaurants where you can walk in and sit down and order if you don’t want to go to the buffet. That was very nice when we didn’t get a spot in the reservations required restaurants. Tons of fish right at the resort. It’s a little rocky but adds to the experience. We snorkeled right there and saw tons of fish. Everything was exactly what they claim on their website. There was no pressure to buy timeshares (we’ve had that at other places) and no pressure to tip even though we did. It’s easy to find a quiet spot if you want it and also things going on all the time if you want to be entertained. They had something for everyone. I would recommend for couples or for families with children. Also loved the entertainment. Real talent, meaningful themed shows, classy. Loved it all.

Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort was excellent overall. The property was very clean and every staff member was very friendly and accommodating. One of the main pools and gym was closed which wasn’t disclosed at check in. Food at buffets was good, but the actual few restaurants they have are better, however it was very hard to get a reservation due to the fact that the link opened up at 8am, and everyone tries to go on at the same time and book a slot, the spots are very limited and almost impossible to get. Drinks were good, not watered down and bartenders very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of daytime pool activities. Beaches were nice but small. The room was nice and clean, and the staff did a great job of keeping everything stocked and ready for us. Bed was comfortable and towels were provided as well, at our service.

We were pleasantly surprised to be welcomed with upgraded perks such as complimentary spa offers and discounts, a private pool and beach access and access to the adjoining resort facilities. We were pleased with the food at the a la carte options. However, accessing them was a logistical nightmare. The online access was down. This required guests to line up daily at 7:30 am to TRY to get a booking for that day. On our second last day, I was first in a line of 25, and was still unable to access any a la carte restaurant for that day. No one was able to book. There is no advance booking- I don’t understand the issue. It must be improved. One other concern was the use of artificial sweeteners in the bar mixes. We all ended up choosing non-choice drinks due to this practice- not only is it an unpleasant aftertaste, it causes migraines in one of our party. We switched to clear drinks like gin and tonic instead of delicious fancy drinks which was disappointing. The juice bar was a real treat, and we utilized it daily. We found the choices for vegetarians and healthy eaters were plenty. The crepe stand was a lovely choice, and the availability of cappuccino at most locations was a bonus. We enjoyed the evening activities and the entertainment and animation staff were wonderful and sometimes hilarious! The dancers in the Latin show were truly world class. Overall, with those small bits of feedback, it was an exceptional vacation and we will certainly try to return.

The staff at the Catalonia are so kind & giving. There are a lot of changes over the last yr with the separation of the Yukatan & Riviera. Some good, some not so great. The owners need to give the staff better conditions to work with so the they can better help the customers. Mostly the bookings of the restaurants. I witnessed more people verbally abusing the staff at the service desk because of the constant issues with the app/ internet. They do not deserve that.

Had a wonderful weeks stay. Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable & very clean. The beds are very comfortable. The staff is amazing & responsive. We had a small issue with our AC & maintenance was there within minutes to fix it. We enjoyed the buffets & restaurants with BLoved restaurant being our favourite. The tuna was very good. The grounds are very well kept & walkable. The beach is rocky but just bring water shoes & enjoy the snorkling. Luz at the front desk made check in quick & easy. We will definitely return & stay longer.
