Young Country Manor

The Manor is recommended for families or groups looking for an upscale stay in the Palouse wheatfields. The property is ideal for family reunions and weddings.
The property was homesteaded by Henry Young in the 1880s. It consists of a cow barn built in 1880; a guest house built in 1917; the Manor constructed during1917-1921; and a large equipment shed. The Manor was the second home built on the property. Fire took the first home and a large horse barn constructed alongside the cow barn in the 1880s.
The property currently is owned by a fifth-generation Young family member. Between 2005-2008, major renovations were made to the Manor, guest house, and the cow barn.
The Manor is beautifully decorated the Manor in the manner of an Irish Equestrian Lodge.
The Manor has three stories. The main floor includes a full kitchen with a picnic-style table, a formal dining room with a custom granite table, living and TV rooms, and a one-half bathroom. The upstairs has three bedrooms, two offices, and a large bathroom with a large shower and a deep claw-foot tub made for two. The downstairs has a newly remodeled full bathroom, and a laundry room with a washer/dryer. Other rooms downstairs are locked for private use.

Not what I was expecting
Did not realize there was a long term renter in the house after we booked this home. Was not communicated to us and I had been in communication with the host prior to us staying there. We surprised the renter when we walked in. All of the renters belongings and such were all in the house and we had to clean the house before staying there. We booked this place over a year in advance due to college graduation in a small town and we had no other option but to stay there when we arrived. No response by the host but the renter was very apologetic and accommodating. We felt bad that she was being kicked out of her of her own home so we could use it as a VRBO for the long week end.There were pets in the home and we had people with allergies. I chose a home that did not take pets so we would not have the issues. I have used VRBO for over a decade and never have had this issue or heard of anything like this.

unique and beautiful location
Lovely country ranch home. Very pleasant location with massive trees in the rolling hills of the Palouse. A few small, correctable issues like one toilet on the blink and short supply of toilet paper. Also, the Keurig coffee maker didn't work. In spite of the small things a beautiful home and fantastic setting.

Time well spent in the country.
The home is a lovely, heritage farmhouse in the country yet only 15 minutes from Pullman. We really appreciated the antiques, sun-filled rooms and quiet nights. The old-fashioned front porch is grand; the full width of the home and we used it for sitting with our morning coffee, afternoon lemonades / cocktails and evening conversations / stargazing. Our host was most accommodating and helpful. Speaking with her in advance of our visit I asked where I could find and buy a special lawn game that our group wanted. I described it to her and it was waiting for us when we arrived the next day! It was a perfect place for our home base during our trip to Pullman.
