A perfect visit to Quebec City.
My wife and I are in our 70's and have stayed in many different types of places in our nearly 50 years of traveling together and we both agree: the three nights we spent at Sophie's B & B was the best experience of all of them. The building is lovely, well situated for our visit (walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go - old city in one direction, art museum in the other, and Ave Cartier in between.
Sophie was a delight, the room was large, well-lighted, tastefully modern with new windows and very nice art, with a newly renovated feel all around, including the large and functional bathroom. There is a full kitchen and dining area down the hall for the use of guests where breakfast is prepared and served, if you choose to include it. We did, and it was quite wonderful. For this early anniversary trip we ate out, but normally I like to cook when we travel and this was one of the best equipped kitchens I've encountered.
Sophie is quite fluent in English, but also very happy to converse in French with my wife, who is fairly fluent and very much a Francophone. I am not, but I really enjoyed the animated conversations between them.
In short, there is not a single thing we would do to improve on our visit -- great bed, quiet with windows closed (it was March) despite being on the Grande Allee, comfortable in every way, including great towels.
We have visited QC many times, always staying in a different location, but from now on Le Widor will be our only choice.
