Not the best
Well we had no hot water. We barely had warm water for the dishes, much less to shower. We paid a lot of money to stay at this cabin and it was so cluttered and dirty. The only good thing was the smokeless fire pit!

Quaint Cottage with unique layout
Easy to get to, quiet remote-ish lake locale with full time residents living on same lane. Lake access is accurate - this lake and most residents have many stairs and this one was no exception but owner described this so no surprises there. The Kitchen and main living areas are on separate floors with entrances for each so was not an issue for us- each have access to decks. One of the upstairs rooms has private deck perfect for morning coffee and view of cove. this is not direct access to lake but quiet cove with beautiful docks with stairs to access water for canoeing or swimming. Could easily be boat in and out but we were off season so we just took in the quiet and wildlife. The cabin could use a deep cleaning -, a pile up of dead bugs in the light fixtures (common in VA. after summer but a quick vacuum would handle it), a pretty thick coating of dust on other light fixtures (again easy to vacuum, spray off) we had to clean out the cupboards and dishes we were using- we found several pots and pans with food stuck on them so cleaned those as well. The fridge and freezer should have been cleaned upon last party checking out but it didn't appear this occured. I usually expect these issues with VRBO now so I bring my own cleaning gear but I am on vacation and wish local owners would do more through checks when possible but understand this cannot always happen. Overall it was as expected but could be wonderful with more attention.

Bungalow by the Lake
The home is on a finger of Claytor Lake, which was quiet and out of the wind. It is eclectic with kitchen on bottom level and living room area on the second level. You can access both levels independently from the driveway. Overall, comfortable for our needs given the weather wasn't great but we were in town for graduation.

Overall great stay
The owner was very accommodating and allowed us to check-in a little early. Our kids loved going out on the Kayak and have insisted "we have to come back to this exact house in the Summer". They enjoyed figuring out and listening to the record player and playing games. There is no wifi & cell service only worked upstairs which forced them to put electronics down and interact (which I appreciated). Its nice to kinda be secluded but everything in town was 15-20 min away which was great for us.

Great views and location
We enjoyed our long weekend at the Hokie House. Location is great - quick ride into Radford and easy trip to VT. House is cozy and rustic, we found it very relaxing. The Solo stove was nice to gather around at night, and we enjoyed the steady stream of white tail visitors coming by as we had wine on the porch. We will come back for sure.

We enjoyed this stay while visiting Tech and Radford for our high school seniors. The home was lived in but very cozy and the host was a great communicator. There were some things that could have been cleaner but the overall stay was wonderful and the view is stellar.

Vacay
Spent a week at the Hokie House in July. Location was great. House on a cove with little to no boat traffic. Floated in the water, kayaked and jumped off the dock. Perfect and private water space. Steps down from the house are a little daunting but doable. House had everything we needed supplied. Towels and paper products included. Very private and secluded. Outside deck was great space. House is a little dated but did not detract from our stay. Would definitely recommend to others. Rented a pontoon boat from Mountain to lake marina (?). A wonderful addition to our vacation. They we’re very accommodating. Delivery and pickup right at out dock. Very enjoyable week.

Great location-dated home- needs cleaning
Arrived at the home, met the "cleaners" leaving. Dog feces was on the sidewalk, porch cushion's had so much mildew in them we were not able to use. Urine and feces in the bathroom toilets, sinks had soap residue as if not wiped down and the refrigerator had pink scum that we had to get out. Ceiling tiles showed leakage and stained. We contacted the owner and he said he would refund our cleaning fee which he did and send the "cleaners" back. We opted to start off our family vacation with a 30 minute clean up session ourselves. After we got past the cleanliness issues, we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen porch was where we stayed the most and enjoyed the fire pit. The owner is very responsive and willing to fix any issues, we just think he needs to do more inspections himself and make adjustments.

Great host....great property....perfect getaway! You will enjoy your time relaxing with this property. private cove was perfect for swimming and fishing. Highly recommend this property for a lake trip be prepared for a nice workout on the stairs to the lake but it's worth it as far as I am concerned:) THANK YOU!!!

My siblings and I meet each year with our families so we can spend quality time together. We live in 3 different states we loved our stay in this beautiful cabin. The location is great the dock is amazing. Perfect for a relaxing family vacation.

Great place to reconnect with family for VT graduation
Our niece graduated from Virginia Tech in December. There were plenty of beds and lots of space to spend time together and reconnect. With the cooler temperatures, we didn't have an opportunity to enjoy the outside space, but the living room and kitchen spaces offered plenty of space. The owner was very responsive and helpful in providing directions since there is a bit of a drive in the country to find this home. It would be a great place to stay for spring graduations.

Cabin getaway
We stayed at the cabin for a few days for some relaxation and it was wonderful! Quiet and serene atmosphere. We rented a pontoon boat and enjoyed being out on the water. We grilled out on the deck every night, which was wonderful!
