Rapallo, well-known seaside resort in the metropolitan area of Genoa, is located in the western part of the Tigullio Gulf.
Here you can find everything you need for a nice holiday on the Riviera: the historic center is crossed by the caruggio (via Mazzini), parallel to the waterfront, with numerous shops. The Vittorio Veneto waterfront is an elegant walk under the shade of palm trees; here you will find all the boats and ferries by which you can reach the other places located in the Gulf. It is characterized by many bars, ice cream parlors, hotels and restaurants.
Visit the Sanctuary of Montallegro, reachable by a cable car, which offers visitors a splendid view of the Tigullio, as well as San Michele di Pagana, a fraction of Rapallo, a splendid natural inlet towards Santa Margherita.
Near the Rapallo highway exit and so very close to our villa is the Rapallo Golf and Tennis Club, one of the most popular 18-hole courses in Italy, located next to the ruins of Valle Christi, an ancient Cistercian monastery.
33 kms away from Rapallo is Genoa, well-known port city and capital of Liguria region, is historically known for its important role in maritime trade over the past centuries.
Known as one of the most extensive medieval historical centers in Europe, the heart of Genoa is a maze of alleys that unexpectedly open up into small squares, often related, like the churches overlooking them, to important noble families.
The spirit of Genoa lies in the alleys, where different smells, tastes, languages and cultures perfectly blend in.
In the historical center is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, in Romanesque style with a black and white striped façade and frescoed interiors. Narrow streets lead to monumental squares such as the Piazza de Ferrari, with its characteristic bronze fountain, and the Carlo Felice opera house.
The Genoa aquarium, the largest in Europe, is unmissable and iconic. The exhibition itinerary shows more than 70 environments and about 12,000 specimens of 600 species, coming from all the seas of the world. An unforgettable experience for young and old, which will fill your heart with emotions and a deeper respect for the sea and its extraordinary inhabitants.
Not to be missed is Genoa’s culinary tradition, with its iconic basil pesto, famous all over the world, and the “focaccia”, which can be either salted and topped with olives, onion and tomato, or even sweet and stuffed.
