Villa Eleftherna has been distinguished with the 2024 Tourism Awards Bronze for Traditional Villa of the Year
Villa Eleftherna is a superb rural hideaway, set in an area of magnificent natural beauty, located in the homonym picturesque village of Rethymno. Nestling on a quiet lane in the village, Villa Eleftherna is more than a country cottage or a holiday villa. Built on the highest spot of the village, it offers breathtaking views on the Cretan Sea, Mountain Psiloritis and the whole area. Private but not remote, Villa Eleftherna is next to the village square, where you can find traditional taverns, cafes and a mini-market.

Layout

The 190 m2, two-storey villa is stone-built in a traditional style and can accommodate 8 people in its 4 bedrooms and up to 10 if necessary. The Villa is decorated in a romantic, countryside style and classically furnished with wooden furniture and ceilings.

Ground floor

Entering the villa, the open plan area welcomes you in the cosy living room, featuring two comfortable sofas, a 55 Smart TV with Netflix (villas account), a bluetooth speaker and an open fireplace. Next to the sitting area, guests can find the fully equipped kitchen, offering an indoor dining table as well. Both the living room and the kitchen have direct access to a spacious veranda providing an additional dining area and mesmerising countryside views and to the pool / garden area after descending a few stairs. Additionally, two of the propertys bedrooms are located on the ground floor, one of which offers a king size bed, while the other one features two single beds. Both bedrooms have doors that open up to the rear part of the villa and are equipped with patio furniture, enjoying garden views. Finally, a family bathroom with bathtub is available between the two bedrooms.
First floor

Reaching the first floor guests can find the two remaining bedrooms of the Villa, one of which offers a king size bed and a loft, while the other one features two single beds. Both bedrooms provide access to the enormous veranda, enjoying panoramic views of the sea and the surrounding area! The veranda overlooks the garden and offers extra sitting areas. Furthermore, an additional family bathroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub is located on this level

Outdoor area

After descending a few steps from the ground floor veranda, guests can reach the beautifully landscaped outdoor area of the Villa. More specifically the exterior spaces provide several facilities, including:

- A private, 40 sq.m. swimming pool that also offers a removable volleyball net for endless moments of fun with your loved ones!! The pool can also be heated with an additional daily charge for the entire stay and it requires at least one weeks advance notice.
- The pool area is equipped with sun beds, umbrellas and an outdoor shower for your comfort. The terrace also enjoys beautiful countryside views!
- Fully equipped BBQ facilities with outdoor sink and wood oven, next to an outdoor dining area under the shade of the trees.

- Beautiful garden, with flowers, shrubs, fruit trees and lawn covered areas around the pool, ideal for the kids to play. Also, a hammock is available under the trees, just the perfect spot for relaxation.

- Parking inside the Villa premises for 3 cars

- 4 mountain bikes and light hiking equipment (batons) are provided, so you can explore the area around the Villa.

- The whole outdoor area is fenced and has a private entrance with a gate, offering 100% privacy to our guests.

The Villa is located in Eleftherna village. The surrounding area is quiet, a place where you can relax and feel "away from it all".

Eleftherna is a village with life and it has some traditional cafeterias and a few taverns where they also offer nice breakfast and a mini market.

The village of Eleftherna is well known because of the archaeological site and the newly built museum of Ancient Eleftherna. They are worth a visit for discovering and feeling the ancient history of the area.

The village giving you also the advantage to combine mountain and sea. You can make a tour of the villages around or visit some of the most well known beaches on the north coast. The convenient location of Villa Eleftherna allows easy access to the sights of the island and offers the opportunity to various activities; relaxing walks in the countryside, hiking, mountain biking or climbing trips can be easily organised.

Séjour inoubliable en famille et entre amis

Une villa incroyable : confortable, propre, parfaitement équipée, idéalement située si on recherche le calme de la campagne, avec une vue à couper le souffle. Piscine et jardins entretenus avec beaucoup de soin et d'amour. Et, cerise sur le gâteau, des hôtes (Giorgios et son épouse) extrêmement accueillants et adorables, aux petits soins avec nous. Nous avons reçu de nombreux présents faits maison (vin, miel, fruits, gâteau, huile d'olive,...). Merci à vous ! Nous en garderons un souvenir inoubliable et espérons avoir la chance de pouvoir y revenir ❤️. Merci aussi à Etouri, toujours disponible et qui nous a permis de prolonger notre séjour de quelques heures dans un beach club branché avant de reprendre notre avion. A great family house, in a historical village

We had a really great time at the Villa Elephterna. The agency gave us all the details to arrive directly at the house, and prepared our arrival sharing many details and proposed many services during all our stay, someone was reachable 24/7, for anything. A car is mandatory as the village is isolated. George, the owner, received us at the house with such a warm welcome, with a basket of excellent fruits, and a bottle of his excellent home-made olive oil as well as honey... The house is big, The rooms are very spacious (especially for the parents, but also for the children), with large terrasses at the first floor, furnitures are great, the kitchen is very functional with an exit to a covered terrasse over the swimming pool, offering possibility to eat outside on a large table, the bathrooms are perfect, all was really clean and a cleaning was performed during the middle of the week. The swimming pool is so nice with a great view from the Terrasse, and is was perfect for the children (and adults) at any time of the day. There is also a nice garden, flourished and a nice big tree in the middle, with a Hamac and another big table to eat outside. There is a private parking at the entrance of the propriety for 2 cars (maybe 3 actually, but we had only 2), the Wifi worked very well, TV is available with a wide screen (although we had not really time to watch it, but it was nice for the children before going to bed). The village has an important historical record and a modern museum is close to the house (800 m), and a really nice visit of the ancient village in the middle of the forest can be done. In the area, the village of Maragrites is mandatory to visit, with all the poteries shops and artisanal workers. Beaches near Rethymno, or Bali, Panormos, are at 30-40 minutes by car. Heraklion airport at 1.15, and Hania at 1.20-1.30 by car. George came every day to manage the swimming pool and the garden. For people seeking quiet, comfort and beauty for family holydays, this house is perfect.

One of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed in!

My girlfriend and I stayed here with a couple friends for two weeks and can say that this villa is absolutely amazing for the price. It’s huge, with beautiful views of the mountains and sea during the day as well as the stars at night. The host Alexandros and his family were very accommodating, we arrived to a welcoming tour of the property and a gift basket. There is a wonderful aroma of flowers in the morning from the garden. The barbecue pit was also stocked with coal and fire starter which was nice. Overall I would recommend this place to any small group or families looking to stay in Crete. It’s located in a peaceful village in the mountains and is a short drive to the lively city of Rethymno. Being in the center of the island it’s also no more than about a two hour drive at most to many scenic or notable places to visit. Renting a car though is a must.

The villa was amazing and they cater for all of a family needs. This ranged from a pizza oven to a great barbecue and a great swimming pool. The owners were great hosts and the villa was maintained to a very high standard. Loved the two weeks at the villa and would highly recommend it.

Perfect stay

The Villa is beautiful and had everything we could have wanted with stunning views and a great pool. There was plenty to do locally but we made use of our hire car too and visited lots of other areas. We are a family with four children aged 9-15 years and all thoroughly enjoyed our time in Eleftherna. The service provided by Etouri was excellent with really good recommendations of where to go. What made our holiday even more special was the wonderful owner Georgious - thank you for your hospitality!

Villa Eleftherna

One of the best villas I have stayed in . The villa was beautiful and kept immaculate by the owners. The owner is on hand to greet you on your arrival and show you around . There are superb views from all the balconies of the Cretan mountains and sea. The pool is a good size and kept very clean and the garden very pretty with many places to sit and a BBQ and pizza oven . The villa is well equipped and the owners are on hand to answer any questions or help . There are many interesting places to visit nearby and the village tavernas and mini market are handy and within walking distance.

Outstanding Villa

The whole experience at the villa was outstanding, from the moment we booked and received excellent service to the the ease of check in to the assistance while we stayed. Nothing was a problem for Etouri and George!! The villa was cleaned twice weekly which was an absolute treat. The gardens were beautifully kept and maintained. The local town is small and quiet but had a romance to it, especially Andira and Manous the excellent host. Cannot promote it enough. It is rural so you need a car but everything is within easy reach. Highly recommend the beach club and the catamaran days!

Traumhafte Unterkunft

Diese wunderschöne Villa in ruhiger Lage ist großartig. Hier stimmt einfach alles. Das Anwesen ist sehr gepflegt, extrem großzügig angelegt und perfekt ausgestattet . Täglich hat sich Giorgos um den Garten und Pool gekümmert und das auf eine sehr angenehme zurückhaltende freundliche Art. Wir wurden sogar immer wieder mit Aufmerksamkeiten und Geschenken verwöhnt - mehr geht nicht. Die Agentur war für uns immer sofort erreichbar und arbeitet ausgesprochen professionell ,kleine Beanstandungen wurden sehr schnell behoben. Nochmals ein herzliches Dankeschön für diesen schönen Aufenthalt in der Villa Eleftherna

Alt fungerte bra, både ute og inne. Varmt tatt imot av husverten, som ikke visste hva godt han kunne gjøre for oss. Stor fruktkurv, vin, egg, olivenolje og honning av egen avling. Sikringene gikk, han var på plass tre minutter etter at vi tok kontakt. Huset hadde alt vi trengte. Vedfyrt pizzaovn ble testet og flott grill ute. Store og små koste seg.

Absolutely amazing place to stay

This really was a lovely place to find for our first family holiday in years. The villa is lovely - peaceful, immaculate, and the pool was great for our children who were aged 4-17. Georgios the host and his wife couldn’t have made us feel any more welcome but without being intrusive. The local area and village is quiet, with great tavernas and friendly locals. The drive to local town and beaches is easy and scenic and Bali Beach was an amazing excursion for a swim and scuba dive. Highly recommend. Nothing to fault, everything to recommend. We fully intend to return to Villa Eleftherna again, but next time for two weeks rather than the one.

Lovely stay in fantastic villa with generous, welcoming hosts

Fantastic stay, very clean and well equipped villa. Incredibly friendly owners who made us feel very welcome. Great taverna a short stroll away and plenty more a short drive further. Made the most of the heated pool despite the disappointing weather at the end of October. Would definitely return when returning to Crete.

Great villa, wonderful host

This villa was one of the best we have stayed in. Beautifully appointed, clean with an astonishing amount of thought to all the extras that make a holiday effortless. George and his family are the most generous of hosts and their many gifts and considerate touches (home produced honey and olive oil to take home with us) were above and beyond our expectations. Recommend opting for the pool heating (we went end of September) whole heartedly recommend staying here. Wonderful, warm and welcoming.

Lovely stay!

We traveled as a group of six people and had a wonderful time at villa Elétherna! The house is clean and very well designed. We were amazed by the hospitalty - we were gifted fresh fruits, olive oil, honey and raki! The owner, Giorgos, came everyday to look after the villa and the pool, so we never had any issues. Thank you so much!

Wunderbares Haus mit Panoramablick

Wir haben ein wunderbaras Haus in Eleftherna vorgefunden, was keine Wünsche übrig lässt. Geschmackvoll und mit viel Liebe eingerichtet, komplett ausgestattet und mit einem wunderbaren Lebensmittelpaket begrüßt worden. Das Haus hat einen wunderbaren Blick bis zum Meer und in die Berge. Viele Terassen, die die Möglichkeit bieten, je nach Wunsch im Schatten oder in der Sonne zu sitzen. Ein gepflegter Garten, Betten mit hervorragenden Matratzen und ein sehr freundlicher und angenehmer Gastgeber machen das Ganze komplett. Wir kommen gern wieder.
