I parked right in front and walked in - and the front desk clerk was on the phone taking a reservation. Clearly, she saw me and my car. She was busy taking a rez - totally cool - I've worked a front desk - lots to do! What was weird was never getting any sort of smile, acknowledgement of my arrival and/or vague head nod that I was guest, ready to check in. What became weirder - and this lady behind the desk was quite nice on the phone and doing a good job - but it almost felt like she was extending the phone call on purpose and making me wait longer. I know that sounds crazy but the longer she obviously avoided me and then kept talking and talking and talking to this person... it was just odd that not once did she stop to acknowledge me in any way, wink or say hello....and made me wait for 15 minutes to check in. I was exhausted from being on the road all day and it just did not feel welcoming whatsoever. I would have thought, at some point - perhaps 10 minutes in - that she would have said, 'hey, can I please put you on hold for a minute (while you check your spam, find a pen, ask your husband questions, etc.) because I have a guest that just walked in." Now - when she finally did welcome me, she was kind and good at her job - and she kinda/sorta, not really apologized because I'm sure she could see I was somewhat annoyed. I was tired - road weary - and clearly not in my best moment but just even a HELLO and a smile would have gone a long way to helping my patience level.
