Overview:
Restored 1960 Mid Century Marvel. Hand-scraped Brazilian Cherry wood floors. Vintage Heywood Wakefield furnishings & accents throughout. This was my grandmother's home lovingly restored w/all modern conveniences (air conditioning, gas heat, fireplace, high speed WiFi, new kitchen appliances, washer & dryer, electronic locks, high definition HD TVs in each room w/Apple TVs).

The space:

The house sleeps 4-5 comfortably. Guests may use the main house, laundry room and front and back yards. Feel free to pick cherries and apples from the fruit trees in the front and side yard. There is a gas grill in the back yard for outdoor cooking along with an additional propane tank so running out of fuel mid cooking won’t be an issue. There are two bedrooms (master has king size medium firm bed with 2 new Tempurpedic XL Twins on electric adjustable bed frames combined to make a king and guest room has two twin beds; one is firm with a 2” memory foam topper and other is soft). Living room has vintage day bed (must use full size memory foam topper stored in the guest closet otherwise it is likely not comfortable) if additional sleeping spaces are needed. Please refrain from sleeping on the long sofa in order to protect its integrity. The home is filled with vintage Heywood Wakefield furnishings (please treat with care) and has been tastefully renovated/restored in a manner consistent with its mid century past.

The neighborhood:

The house is situated in a residential area conveniently between mid-village (shops), The Inn of the Mountain Gods and the Ruidoso Downs. The house was built (reportedly) as a VIP "cabin" for the racetrack/downs. The Billy the Kid Casino (6 min drive), Casino Apache (6 min drive) and Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino (10 min drive) are easily accessible. Walking distance to some stores, shops, restaurants. The Rio Ruidoso is a block and a half away. Short driving distance to mid-village shops (6 min drive), restaurants, and Ski Apache. There is a great walking trail (easy and even terrain) behind the Chamber of Commerce. More advanced hiking is all around the area with guides available at the forest service headquarters. Don't forget to check out the Monjeau Peak lookout near the ski resort. Lincoln, NM (home of the Lincoln County Wars and jailing of Billy the Kid), Capitan, NM (home to the Smokey Bear Historical Park), Cloudcroft, NM (home of the infamous and historic Cloudcroft Lodge & Rebecca’s Restaurant) and Roswell, NM (home to the UFO Museum) are all a short (hour or less) and beautiful drive away.

Nice get away home
Easy access, nice location, quiet neighborhood, property was clean and ready for use. Backyard is completely closed in so dogs could not get out. Will be booking again in the near future.

Relax in Riodoso
Loved the retro decor! Great location in town. Very comfortable bed in the master. Kitchen fully furnished. Hunter, the host, was very quick to respond to questions. Nice view from the driveway where we sat every night to look at the mountains, beautiful trees, & nightly visits from deer.

Quick Drive close to Midtown Ruidoso, NM. Ammmenities loaded and host accommodating place. Our pup enjoyed the nice sized fenced yard. Has any and all kitchen, bathroom and living room amenity I can think of for a home away from home stay.

Great stay in Ruidoso, especially if you’re a dog mom!
Hunter was a great host, very responsive. His place has everything you need in a vacation home. We cooked breakfasts and ate out for lunch and dinner. His restaurant suggestions were perfect, and the house is off the Main Street in Ruidoso so you’re close to the everything! We especially loved that our Schnauzers could just run around in the backyard. Hunter’s place is perfect if you’re dog parents. Thank you for sharing your home, Hunter. Perfect for us!
So many good things about this property! Location, fenced back yard for our fur babies, fast internet, TVs in every room, comfortable beds. I think the kitchen is better equipped than mine at home; absolutely every small appliance, plates, bowls, glasses, baking pans, pots, pans, spices, etc. Even first aid supplies in the bathroom. Plenty of towels and toilet paper. I had one issue with the Apple TV, which was probably my fault. Hunter talked me through it and even offered to drive 3-1/2 hrs to fix it. Wonderful experience and we will definitely ba back!!

The house is well equipped. We had everything we needed and everything we used worked…laundry, microwave, stove, coffee maker etc. Being able to potty the dogs just right out the back door without needing to leash them up was a huge plus! It’s a small home but was perfect for 2 adults and 3 small dogs. The owner was quick to respond to our questions. Absolutely recommend!

Greatest place to stay
If you are looking for something perfectly located, comes with everything you could ever want than this is the [lace. Everything is right there and getting in and out is easy. The owner really seems to care and stays in touch with you on everything including the weather changes. It is clean and like I said come with everything you ever thought you may have forgotten. I could have never expected any place to be this nice and like I said the location and especially the back yard is a great touch. It is the perfect place to stay!

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights with our small dog. The home is very well equipped with everything we needed (and then some!) and the MCM decor is adorable. A bottle of wine was waiting for us, which was a nice touch. Hunter was an excellent host, answering messages promptly.

Just my husband and me. This house is extremely well equipped. I loved the charging stations on every bedside table. And the bidet is a nice touch too! Nice clean, fluffy towels. Master bed, king, has two separate remotes for each side if you want to sit up or have feet elevated. Every room has a tv and air conditioner. Backyard needs a little love, you can tell there’s lots of potential. Cornerstone restaurant and Grill Caliente were our favorite restaurants. Ruidoso River Trail perfect for dog walking, they loved jumping in the water. Views from Ski Apache gondola ride was stunning.

Nice, but noisy!
Sweet house with a wonderful backyard…perfect for my dog. Great directions on how everything worked…and everything worked! My bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable! This house is located right in the middle of town so there is lots of noise…of course, not the owner’s fault! There are loud, barking dogs next door and some kind of construction meeting center nearby. Lots of big trucks coming by all day long, very loud. The living room is furniture is uncomfortable, but otherwise we had everything we needed. We wanted a quiet retreat, so this just wasn’t the place for us.

On the last night next door neighbors dog barked for over six hours non stop, wasn't a problem the night before, if we could here the dog I know they could too started about 11:00 ended about six before it stopped. Other than that we loved the place, hope to use again.

Cute little hous, no view and musty smell
The good: house was clean and owner was nice. House had everything you need, plates, towels etc. It has the 1960s vibe going The bad: zero view, the yard is overgrown and the house has a musty smell. TV needs a sound bar if running the window AC. When we tried to sit outside the neighbors dogs barked at us the whole time. If you want to be close to town and not bothered by having a view then it would be a good fit. This was our first time in Ruidoso and was the 4th of July Weekend so this place was one of the only ones not 500 bucks a night.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The home felt like we were right at home. Everything was nice and clean. Had the best shower we’ve ever had!! The mid century decor was beautiful. Our fur babies also enjoyed they’re stay and the backyard. We will definitely book this home again.
