Waikare Retreat - Stunning Views

Come and relax and get away from it all on 15 acres of bush and farmland overlooking the tranqual Waikare inlet, privately located surrounded by nature and birdsong. We are five minutes drive from Romantic Russell for all the cafes, entertainment and activities.

Enjoy our spa pool under a beautiful star lit sky in aboslute peace and quiet, the only sound will be native birds calling, often including our native Kiwis. Your free to wander all over our propety exploring native bush, our little beach where you can go kayaking and our friendly sheep and lambs.

We are in close proximity to Russell's Kauri Forest and many stunning beaches and hiking tracks. Russell being situated surround by the Beautiful Bay of Islands has many water sport and boating trips to discover the Islands and the dolpins, whales and seals that make it their home. We can help with ideas on what to do while your here. There are many bush walks of various lengths and of course our wonderful array of fabulours resturants, cafes and gift shops. Something for everyone =)

Beautiful place to stay
Property was beautiful. Didn't realise there was a woman living below from the ad. However, this posed no issues what so ever. Thank you for sharing your home. We really appreciated the stay.

Absolutely stunning!
Katrina was wonderful to deal with. The place was beautiful, with immaculate views! The kitchen had everything you needed. I just loved the indoor plants! It's a 7 minute drive to Russell's main town. Thank you Katrina, for a wonderful stay!

Breath Taking View
Loved staying here. Katrina and her family were so warm and welcoming. The property is comfortable and in a great location with easy access to township. Views were stunning - Don't miss the sunrise! It was worth waking at 6am for.

A home way from home
An amazing location, just south of Russell township which was ideal during busy, crowded summer holidays. A spa overlooking the Waikare Inlet was sublime, although I'd much prefer to try again during the cooler months. Communication with Katrina was always easy and pleasant. Place was clean and tidy, and had everything we needed. A great stay and highly recommended. My wife and I will definitely be back!

We had an amazing weekend at the Waikare retreat
Such a blissful place to celebrate turning 25 with some of my closest friends, it was so nice to look out the windows and see the ngahere and the Moana even in the rain it was so beautiful! We ate lots of good Kai, had some drinks in the spa in the rain and even went to Russell for dinner at the Dukes tavern. Katarina made us feel very welcome ngā mihi for letting us stay in your whare ❤️

A retreat catering for all interests.
We stayed 11 days and enjoyed the various bush walks on their property, wonderful view and kayaking from their waters edge (down a seperate steep drive). We enjoyed watching the ducks, chickens and weka’s antics and loved the hot pool. Thanks Miles & Katrina.

Beautiful view, nice spacious unit with everything you would need. Katrina was lovely and helpful. The children loved feeding the sheep and finding the chicken eggs! Just be aware that the unit is attached to the main house and the spa is on the owners deck above the unit. So it is not in its own private part of the property which we were expecting. We did however enjoy a peaceful stay.

We absolutely loved our stay in Russell! The spot was gorgeous and the weka and tuis all around made the stay just that much better. With such close access to amazingly beautiful beaches and the fact we hardly saw anyone else on the sand made our trip perfect. Thank you for the lovely stay!

The perfect getaway.
We absolutely loved this place in amongst the tea trees, ferns and amazing views from the house and spa pool. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed cruising around the many bays, just beautiful. The hosts were lovely people, and I also loved their peking ducks. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away for R&R. AAA+++.

We had a wonderful time nestled n the bush looking at the stunning view. The house itself has wonderful indoor, outdoor flow which meant you could make the most of the surroundings. Great bird life including kiwi and weka. Great hosts! Handy to Russell. Overall a very relaxing holiday, thank you 😊

Hidden gem
Nestled in the bush just a 10 minute drive from the ferry terminal, this place is a relaxing and understated gem. Wake up to sea views, kayak round the shores or drive to any of the nearby walks or Russell town. The hot tub is icing on the cake. Loved our stay, thanks for having us.

What a view.!
Our six night stay at Waikare Retreat was comfortable and the surroundings made it easy to enjoy & relax. The view is incredible day & night...the stars are amazing away from any lights... & the big sliding windows brought a nice breeze in. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds very comfortable, and there was lots of room. Katrina & Miles were welcoming & have lots of knowledge about the area. Definitely recommended.
