Summary:
Welcome to the Art House! I am an artist :) - you'll see this right away when you open the door. This is our first listing and most things inside (and outside) my friends and I have either recreated, painted or refinished ourselves. Thrilled to welcome you for your very own private stay (Yup, its all yours)! Most guests have loved our huge backyard and close proximity to downtown.
The Space:
Only minutes away from shops, local breweries, McGeorge School of Law, the Golden 1 Center and bustling downtown. The UC Davis Med Center is but 1 mile away, too.
This is a 1930's art gallery styled bungalow with a colorful and creative vibe.
Our goal is that each guest has a great lodging experience. We hope that part of this is achieved through the artwork of mine and my friends and the unique, homey space we've worked hard to create. Your booking actually helps real artists within the community! Their art is featured in the house and also available for purchase :)
Guest Access:
As featured on morning TV, the entire bungalow is available for access. I have a huge backyard and a medium sized deck. You're also welcome to use the outside grill.
NOTE: The groundskeeper may access the backyard.
Also, in 2020 we completed construction of a tiny house immediately next door. This area in not accessible to guests.
PARKING: If you have a car, please park on the street in front of the house :)
The Neighborhood:
Oak Park is a rapidly gentrifying area. The area is generally quiet, but sometimes (on the weekends/evenings) there are the occasional festivities. The house is about a 7 minute walk from the always fun broadway triangle; an area with great shops, breweries, and a really cool bookstore. I love the Plant Foundry (nursery and garden) and i think you might, too.
Also, if you're stopping by in the Summer months (May - September) I highly reccommend a visit to Oak Park Gather- a neighborhood event featuring local food and beverage vendors, cool crafts AND live music!
Getting Around:
If you get the chance, try the city's newest form of transit - electric bike sharing! JUMP Bikes are becoming more and more popular in the area and are a really fun way to get around. Of course Uber and Lyft are everywhere too!
Public transportation runs up and down the main cross street (Broadway); although I'm not the best with navigating the routes. Midtown is a 5 minute car ride away.
If you have a car, please park right in front of the house on the street- Refraim from parking in the neighboring driveway- thank you!
Other Things to Note:
Early Check Ins are available on occasion for an additional fee** . Please request before the day of your arrival!
PARKING: Please park on the street in front of the house. Don't park in the driveway*
Also, there is a groundskeeper who may come into the backyard for regular landscaping and maintenance. The groundskeeper has access to the shed in the far part of the backyard. Hours of external maintenance are intermittent between 8am and 6:30 pm, daily.
NOTE: There is a Tiny House next door. We ask that guests turn off backyard lights and exercise low noise outside after 10pm.
NOTE: We do NOT HAVE cable services. We offer streaming services such as Netflix, Roku, Prime, & Hulu. (Guest has to use their own Netflix account)
Interaction with Guests:
At the front door, you can say "Hi" with the Nest Video Doorbell - just push the button (if you want to).
When you walk in, just say "Alexa, turn on all the lights!"
I leave basic household information on the kitchen table - wifi, tv navigation, lights (alexa), temp control instructions , etc. I've lived in Sacramento now for over 20 years- If you'd like advice on where to go for great food, entertainemnt or even a leisurely hike, just let me know.
If you need anything else, I can meet, you can call me or we can message.
Love the art? It’s also available for purchase! Your booking supports local artists in the area as well - thank you.
