Fresh linen and towels are provided in all the bedrooms and bathrooms.

We provide a welcome pack to get your holiday off to a great start. There’s everything tea, coffee, milk, wines and a range of local produce and bakery to tide you over until you can visit the local boulangerie and markets to stock up on the best France has to offer.

Likewise, there are all the household bits and pieces you will need – dishwasher tablets, soaps, washing machine powder etc.Hand sanitizer and face masks are provided. Hard-surfaces, switches etc. have been disinfected.

A beautifully presented traditional stone farmhouse/ barn of 200 sqm, built around 1736, has been carefully renovated with an eye for quality and detail, providing French charm and all modern amenities. This conversion comfortably accommodates eight, having four double bed-rooms, two en-suite and two sharing a large family bathroom. Whether for 2 or 8 people, La Cigogne offers ample space with a wonderful atmosphere in a wooded setting.

Enter into the heart of the home - the fully fitted breakfast kitchen with original fireplace and double-sided wood burner, tiled floor, beams, exposed stone walls, feature bull's eye window and potagere. The kitchen has a good range of fitted cupboards, double oven, hob, extractor and central island unit.

To the right is the dining room with window to the front, tiled floor, exposed stone walls and beams. Eight-seater dining table. To the left of the kitchen is the cosy sitting room with arched French doors to the front, wood floor and ceiling beams. WC with hand wash basin. Double doors lead through to the second spacious lounge which has wood floor, window and arched door to the front, beams bespoke oak staircase to the first floor.

The first floor is serviced by two separate staircases, each gives access to two bedrooms. From the second lounge the stairs lead to bight landing area. The master bedroom has two windows to the front, exposed beams and A frame, en-suite bathroom has fully tiled walls, velux, bath with shower over, wc and vanity sink. Bedroom 2 has window to the front and exposed beams, en-suite shower room with sink plus a sepa-rate wc with handwash basin.

The stairs from the kitchen rise to another landing area. Bedroom 3 has a window to the front, exposed stone walls and beams. Bedroom 4 has window to the front and exposed stone walls. Family bathroom has a window to the front, exposed stone walls, beams and has a bath with shower over, wc and sink and bidet. All bathrooms have heated towel rails.

The courtyard garden is walled and has a gravelled driveway for parking, screened al fresco dining area with table for eight, BBQ area and lawn. Just a few metres down the drive is a separate lawned garden with stone walls, perfect for games.

There are on-site parking facilities available at the property.

La Cigogne is situated in a small village just 5km from the market town of Lezay and St Soline with leisure lake, just 8km from the N10 at Chaunay. A great base for visiting many attractions in La Rochelle, Cognac, Angouleme and Futurescope in Poitiers.

Lovely gîte
We had a lovely week staying at La Cigogne. The welcome pack was amazing! Best we’ve ever had. We appreciated the little touches such as a bottle of water by each bedside and soap in each bathroom. It is so peaceful there. The mattress on the bed we slept on could do with upgrading, but everything else was great. All in all a lovely find and would definitely book again.
