Booked in as I'm working locally.
I always read reviews before booking and wad surprised by the comments after spending a few nights.
Place was really warm especially as -6 outside.
Was disappointed to find out there was no bar as its still advertised as having one, but that was only complaint.
Very quiet hotel and decent bed and room.
Would revisit anytime as its good value, warm, and very helpful and cheery staff.

Well located but...
A pleasant welcome. Helpful staff member showed me my room and how to get back into the hotel after 11pm, when the front desk closes.
Heating wasn't on in the room - I had to get on my hands and knees, burrow and under the desk and turn on the radiator. Sink had no plug.
Went to see about breakfast. No sign of anyone, coffee machine not switched on, no toaster. You get what you pay for, I guess.
I cancelled on the phone before arrival to which they agreed to not once but twice!!! And then again via a message!! The manager then refused to be contacted by hotels.com and would not give me my money back!! When I became frustrated he told me to behave and that he would call the police!! I just want my money back for a room I didn’t stay in and the hotel agreed to refund!! - disgusting!!
The condition of the property was not as I would expect - one of our rooms was certainly in need of a refit and a new carpet which looked very old - the grounds were not kept well and the over all condition of the hotel was poor
Warm room, comfy bed, hot shower, quiet room, good nights sleep, iron kettle microwave free parking, say no more

Charming Normanhurst
What a lovely original old building to stay in.We opted for the slightly higher priced premier rooms in the original building. Most of the other rooms are in an annexe adjoining the original building. Anyway, the room was spacious. The main original hotel is a little tired decor wise but no complaints from the price paid - the service was great, and the place has a rare charm. Lots of shops and amenities nearby - 3 minute car drive.
I've been there before and the rooms are well cared for. Well the room I was in.
I think a minor issue and because it was winter, the heating was on and wasn't easily accessible to turn down/off.
Just to state it's not 24hr room service
Just an over night stay, no problems clean and quiet. TV stations and reception a bit restricted. Room was very hot. But overall a good experience, reception staff lovely.

Nice size room and lovely and warm. The bathroom was toasty , clean and shower was good enough. Endless supply of really hot water which was nice. Free parking on site and a 15 minute walk to the nearest tram which was fine and a 15-20 minute tram ride to town centre.
The room is shabby and has definitely seen better days. One of our windows was broken, having no handle to open or close it and it was open and cold. Someone came when I asked with a handle to close it but i guess a sign of a hotel a bit in decline? Staff - friendly and helpful but I think only seems to be one person working there? No staff available overnight which is unusual but didnt bother us. Overall, expensive maybe for quality but compared to other hotel prices for that time of year (December) it was ok. £90 a night seems a lot when not a bit more fancy but after shopping around it wasnt too bad.
We used it simply as a place to sleep while in Manchester. It worked for those purposes.

Not really an hotel
Not really an hotel, more of a flop-house. No bar, restaurant, tv lounge or any common areas, just reasonably clean rooms but with an irritating fan in the bathroom that can’t be turned off.

Normanhurst Hotel
Tte staff were great. The hotel needs considerable renovations but can’t complain with the price.
This la e should not even be listed on hotels.com- food rotting in fridge in room - burn marks in bath and bed had dirty skid marks - we went to a he unmanned reception but could not raise anyone - I will be demanding my money back on this as we had to sleep on top of the bedding fully clothed sit to early strat at airport but we were disgusted at this place
This property was awful, it smelt so badly in the corridors and the room, floors hadn’t been sweeped in days and dust everywhere. We looked at the room and left after 20 minutes. It felt very unsafe as there is a separate building behind the hotel where our supposedly superior room was supposed to be, walking here was unsafe and the building was worse than a hostel or very bad council flats.
Would never stay here.
