It's not in the best location, and at first I wondered if I should change hotels. It's right next to Denny's and a few homeless here and there. But I'm glad I stayed. Nothing fancy, but the bed was very comfortable and the whole room was very clean. The shower head was partly broken and barely a sprinkle came out and the water was never hot, only very mildly warm. The staff were excellent and friendly and helpful. I never mentioned the shower head. I stayed in room 211, so you guys might want to look at that. It's a bit noisy being by the highway, but the aircon stopped you hearing some of that noise. Overall I'm glad I stayed. It is a motel, so this is budget accommodation, but I feel like the most important thing to me was a comfortable bed and pillows and very clean place, and that it was. Maybe a little overpriced at $100 a night? But hotels are all overpriced these days. If you are looking for budget accommodation and don't mind motel style, this could be it. The staff were definitely very friendly and helpful and pleasant.

Avoid this hotel at all costs...
This is not a hotel for casual travelers... it is a dumping ground for homeless people. When we arrived at the hotel there were druggies and homeless all around the place. We didn't even stop our car and checked into a nearby Holiday Inn and subsequently requested a refund from Days Inn Black Bear which was refused by Hotels.com and this hotel. There is no mention of this being a homeless shelter on their website... they are just preying on out-of-town travellers like us knowing they can rip us off.

It was alright for price
The room had a lot of holes where things used to be and they were not putted up or painted, The saunas do not work, The pools were very dirty at the bottom. The hot tub was very rusty and very many of the tile in the pools were broken.

When we checked in the person behind the counter was rude. We asked for 2 extra pillows she said the didn’t have any. What hotel doesn’t have extra pillows? She said in the 12 years she has been working there no one has ever asked for extra pillows. Homeless were everywhere you looked didn’t feel safe walking around

There were homeless people sleeping on the sidewalks in front of the hotel on the street. There were shady people in the parking lot late at night. The breakfast was horrible. Coffee was crap But staff was good.

I liked the location because you're next to Denny's (it is literally across the parking lot) and Fred Myers...and a FEW others. What i did not like about the area is the amount of people that sermed to be tweaked out and trying to talk to you as soon as your car stops asking for cash. We had to call and ask for an officer to help at one point. With that being said, all in all i liked the hotel. The beds are FIRM and they have 4 "small" pillows on each bed. My daughter was out within seconds lol. The staff are really kind and friendly. The ones we met tried to be as helpful as possible. If i need to stay in Salem again, I will book with them, only because the pluses out numbered the neg.

The shower had limited water pressure. Went to get into the hot tub, there was a cover on it. It said to “ pull back the cover” we did, got in and it wasn’t hot at all and the jets didn’t work. The front desk staff was very polite. The place is dirty, room was ok. Was ok for the price. Next time spending the extra money for a good hot tub.

This is a clear example of poor management driven by greed. The owner neglected to maintain the property and failed to hire enough staff. Despite the place being fairly booked with many cars in the lot, only one staff member was there to handle both repairs and front desk duties. She had to lock the check-in office to go and change light bulbs, leaving at least three families waiting to be checked in upon her return. Despite being efficient, she was clearly overburdened. The room itself was dirty and in disrepair—the sink was clogged, there was a hole in the wall, the bedding felt unclean, the carpet was filthy, and the room had a cheap artificial scent likely masking unpleasant odors. Having stayed at Days Inn before, this location is well below standard.
