No frills place to stay in the heart of downtown San Diego. Room was very clean. Check in was done through a PIN code that they email you and there is no lobby or front desk. However, the person in charge (Rita) was extremely helpful when I called to inquire about early check in, which was allowed did small fee. It has hostel vibes but clean and well appointed. There are restaurants and bars within a 3-5 min walk.

Everything was exactly as advertised! No staff, but very easy check in/check out. Once inside the building everything was very clean. Could hear the outside fairly well, as well as the hallway activity, but that was expected and not a downside for me, personally. A/C worked great.

This was a unique find, steps away from Petco Park and a bunch of restaurants/bars, fitness studios, and boutiques. It’s within walking distance to Gaslamp District as well. The room itself was small but fit my needs of a place to sleep. It is a great spot if you don’t want much interaction with others as it’s sort of run like an Airbnb (you have door access through a smart door code, no check in counter), but if something is needed, Rita is a phone call away. Some things that could use improvement were there was soap in shower but no shampoo/conditioner and the exhaust fan in the bathroom kept me awake (hopefully these can be ironed out before your stay!) There was a public parking lot ($25 overnight) on the next street over that ran parallel, but the property did not have parking. I can imagine maybe an issue if there is a game/event at the ballpark but I attended when there wasn’t. Overall, glad I chose this property over another. Would stay here again.

The property was very clean and the check-in system is amongst the easiest I’ve ever used. Very good if you’re looking for a simple room to stay in. Won’t be getting the major amenities of a traditional hotel, but not bad if all you need is a bed, clean room, and convenient process.

Perfect for Solo tripping
Hotel Gigi is the perfect place to go to for a solo trip! The room I got was super small but comfortable (enough space for a bed). I was only there one night to sleep. The area can be noisy because it’s downtown SD so of course there are drunk people everywhere. Rita the hotel clerk took care of everything and even let me check out late due to the late night disturbances. I give this place a fair 8/10
