Beautiful historic hotel brought back to life with modern amenities. Exceptional options on site for dinning and nightlife. Fun experience. Wish we could have stayed longer
It was a cute room however there was no place to hang any clothes. No closet. The body wash and shampoo in the shower were completely out. There was no trash can or bathrobe in the room. No blow dryer either. I had to ask for all those things but they should have been in the room according to their website.
Amazing hotel!! So many places to eat and drink within the property. Immaculately decorated! Room was well appointed, comfortable, and clean with no detail forgotten. Very dog friendly. I will be back!!
I truly enjoyed the property, rooms and decor. I felt as a guest however, that the folks wandering in off the street took precedent to the guests who've paid a fair amount to stay there. Whether it be reservations/access at restaurants or bars, etc. it just felt the hotel is an afterthought. Otherwise, great place, great history and a good stay.
Great stay, wonderful vibe. Only critique is that they are kind of short staffed and cannot make up rooms every day. This seems common in Southern California these days, maybe other place too.
Nice enough staff but they are more focused on the bars and restaurants than hotel guests. It’s also a party hotel so it’s not intended for a relaxing weekend. Music is way too loud and started around 9:30 am and doesn’t stop until late at night. Walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors moving in other rooms, even if they aren’t being loud. Very disappointing for such a beautiful property. Spend your money elsewhere unless you want a room that won’t be cleaned and/or want to sleep in a nightclub. I feel old just typing this review, but it’s truly how I feel. Hotels should be an escape but the whole experience was ruined by the noise.
We went to the Lafayette for a one night holiday staycation during the Christmas holidays. The hotel's decorations for the holidays were magnificent! Unfortunately it was something that was quite well known so on the night of our particular stay – which was on a Monday – it was packed! As we had a room it was nice to escape a little on the madness and then come back to join the frivolity that was evident in all the bars and restaurants in this unique property. The staff did as well as they could but they were clearly overwhelmed. In talking to some of them, it was quite clear that the crowds had been like that for over a month and they were All over it.
Whatever the case, I thought that they were generally professional and courteous despite being outmatched. My room was nice, cool, hip and eclectic which fit the general overall vibe of the hotel. It’s not the quietest hotel but that was expected. I should probably note that I was told by both staff and some guest that we met that when the supper club, Lou Lou’s, is open that the rooms in the main part of the hotel where it is located can be pretty loud until the supper club closes.
I will be back. :)

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Amazing, funky and fun. The food and beverage were good. Staff friendly and well trained. The housekeeping
was strange- you had to ask for it. Lighting in the room is poor, the shower handle is beyond the shower head so you get cold water before you can activate the shower.
No face cloths or tissues. But despite those shortcomings we had fun.
Not a service hotel. We stayed on two different occasions with very similar experiences. Menus on chaise loungers at pool but no one ever comes around to take an order. In the morning, the chaise side tables are dirty with hair and cocktail residue while you’re trying to enjoy your morning coffee. Don’t expect an early check-in. The rooms overlooking the pool are great but very loud on Friday/Saturday nights. Consider a room off the pool for more privacy/quiet. The music on the property never changes from club music (even in the morning). How about a little Billie Holliday vibe once in a while? Overall hotel has a McMennamin’s vibe which we like. Good cocktails in the Mexican restaurant.
We had a fabulous family vacation for Christmas here! We had an issue with the tv, and the staff moved us to a new room with more room right near the pool. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. Would definitely stay there again. The restaurants were 10/10 and so was club Lou Lou!
