We were in room 501. While the clawfoot tub looks great it is a safety concern. Very slippery floor, no bars to hold on to getting in and out. My husband fell. He is ok, but someone else might not have been.

Well it’s not being kept up and the room was quite run down. There was also some ants that popped up in the bathroom despite not being food into that room. The shower flooded the bathroom and the pillows were super flat. The beds are rock hard and actually made my body sore. Customer service was poor and the cafe was always closed except for breakfast. I felt very mislead by reviews but maybe my standards are not as low as everyone else’s. I didn’t complain to management because I didn’t want the workers to feel bad.

Nice Accommodations!
The proximity of this hotel to Japantown, Van Ness Avenue, and other places in walking distance makes this a desirable place to stay. Even though this is one of the oldest hotels in San Francisco, it has a good reputation. The room was a little cold but the included breakfast, 24-hour coffee and a comfy bed was a good touch

Cool looking and nostalgic hotel. Staff was very friendly. However, their website was not up to date regarding their restaurant being closed since COVID. We were planning on dining there. Also, the room we stayed in was very noisy being at ground level near a busy intersection. Noisy all night long! We found out at checkout that there were better rooms available upstairs and the person who checked us in shouldn’t have given us the room we stayed in. Very disappointing.
