Our first night at the Monte Cristo was just awful: we were in an upstairs, back-side room on a warm evening. No ventilation to speak of, and no AC, meant that at 11pm, when it had cooled to 75-degrees outside, our room was 82-degrees. It finally dropped below 76-degrees around 4am.
The second night was like night and day: we were moved to a street-side room, airy and well-ventilated, and spent a terrific day and evening there.
The breakfast and staff were lovely throughout the visit. I’d recommend the Monte Cristo to anyone wanting to stay in the Richmond District, with the proviso that on a warm night, you ensure a cooler room.
