Coronavirus (COVID-19): A Message to Our Guests

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread around the world, the safety of our guests and staff at Casa de Cooper is top of mind.

To ensure a healthy stay with us at Casa de Cooper, we have implemented the following safety precautions:

~ Our cleaning staff is being extra diligent in disinfecting the property – before guests arrive and after guests depart -- with particular attention to high touch items and hard surfaces. To allow the extra time needed for this enhanced cleaning protocol, we will ensure a minimum of 24 hours between reservations.

~ To limit non-essential contact between staff and guests, we have temporarily suspended our daily housekeeping service except in an emergency.

We recognize these are unsettling times and want you to know that the safety and well-being of our guests and the entire Casa de Cooper team is our top priority. Whether you are traveling now or in the future, we look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise!

Kindest regards,
Sandra & George Cooper

With a bilingual meet & greet, concierge service and daily housekeeping included your vacation at Casa El Faro promises to be a relaxing one.

This impeccable private 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa is conveniently located in the hills of Pelican Eyes community overlooking the bay of San Juan del Sur.

Consider this villa an ideal place for a luxurious honeymoon or a relaxing beach holiday with family or friends.

Imagine stepping out onto your shaded covered patio with a delightful cup of Nicaraguan coffee and settling into a handmade rocking chair as a picturesque tropical setting unfolds before you.

After breakfast grab your book and spend some time working on your tan at 1 of 2 community pools a 2-minute walk away.

Or if you’re in the mood for some exercise hike to the 25-meter tall Christ of Mercy statue – one of San Juan’s most visited attractions.

Whether you want to make a simple snack or prepare a full meal Casa El Faro’s fully outfitted kitchen has everything you need to do so. The gas BBQ you’ll find just outside the door is great for grilling the day’s catch of mahi-mahi, red snapper, shrimp or lobster.

Each of El Faro's well-appointed 2 bedrooms has private entrance and shaded terrace, spacious ensuite bathroom with hot water rainfall showers and flat screen TV. Bedroom 1 has a king bed. The second bedroom is furnished with two queen beds.

While El Faro's 2 bedrooms have space for 6, a futon sofa bed in the living room means it can house up to 8. This villa can be rented along with other Casa de Cooper properties to accommodate a family reunion or milestone celebration with friends.

Guest access

Your Casa El Faro holiday includes access to the 2 Pelican Eyes community pools that are located a 2-minute walk from the villa and open daily from 7 am to sundown.

Cascada Club Restaurant & Bar is located on the lower level of the community. It is open Thursday to Sunday from noon to 10 pm.

Other things to note

The last 300 meters of road to Casa de Cooper is uphill and unpaved. Extra care is required for guests arriving in low clearance vehicles and compact cars.

We have an electricity allowance of 35 kilowatts per day. This is a sufficient amount to power the villa with responsible use of air conditioning in the bedrooms. Electricity consumption over this amount will be charged at a rate of $0.50 USD per kilowatt hour.

San Juan Del Sur - Casa El Faro
Casa El Faro was quite comfortable and well maintained spacious 2 bedroom+ home with great view of the town and bay below. The overall complex (formerly called Pelican Eyes) has suffered over the years, but rumor is it is soon to be reinvigorated with new ownership. Once the toast of the town this has the potential to return to that level. Walkable to town (albeit with a few stairs that could use a bit of TLC to reduce the slipping hazard - mostly due to rainy season so not likely a concern in dry season). Bottom line - we would stay here again.

Casa Faro was beautiful!
We had a great time at Casa Faro! The casa and the views are both beautiful. It was immaculately clean (altho keep in mind you are in the tropics and bugs will always find a way in!) and well furnished. Check in with Gabriel was seamless once we found the house. It was a little tricky to find which house it was as we arrived in the dark (due to a flight delay) and during a big storm. Gabriel still met us with a smile on his face tho! Walking to/from town was a bit of an adventure the first couple times, but then we got it down! The security guards were hesitant to let us go to our house when they realized we weren't exactly sure of the way (because we had arrived in the dark), but after we got it worked out, they remembered us and greeted us with smiles. The private pool was such a fun surprise! We also enjoyed the Pelican Eyes pool that is just a short walk away. Having air conditioning was absolutely wonderful and was a much needed way to cool off at the end of long days spent outside. We would certainly recommend Casa Faro to friends!

Beautiful property but long hike to get there
The house is absolutely gorgeous and the view is unbeatable. Just be warned as this is not explained in the listing, you have to climb quite a bit of stairs to the property, at least 10-15 minutes of walking. Not ideal if you have elderly guests or anyone with knee/leg issues, and definitely not wheelchair accessible.

Careless Property manager
We planned to do a cook out, we bought the beef and everything but the grill at the property wasn’t working and the property manager never respond our calls to assist us. We had to climb 70 stairs to get to the property and they never told us in advance until we got to the property, very disappointed about the 2 huge inconvenience we had.

The house in perfect condition, but Pelican Eyes resort is no longer what it was! The resort went bankrupt; the difference is abysmal to those who visit the place today. They are more nice places close to lower prices.

Our two week stay
The place was beautiful and anyone going to Chabad and the city its down some stairs not a big deal at all ... the house is pretty much shobbes approved the large fridge the lights dont go off but they have a small fridge that does.. the place is stunning clean relaxing insane views.. you can watch sunset every day.. its splendid .. the safe gave us issues every day almost not sure if someone was trying to get into it but we were not able to rely on it because it kept breaking which was very frustrating.... Overall great stay.. there was a bit of construction going on but it was not often and only an hour or so .. but or else the staff was pretty friendly and helpful.... Id recommend this place..

Vacay in Paradise
Had a lovely week in San Juan del Sur with the family. Was particularly interesting having a whole resort virtually to ourselves. As the timing was on the shoulder season and given the unfortunate civil unrest in the country, we basically had the run of the property. Which was good except that services such as pool cleaning and bar services were cut back. But we had maid and gardener service daily, and we spent a lot of time at the beaches, in town or on day trips. El Faro has a lovely location with great views and close to the main pool area. The 'kids' enjoyed the vocal feline company.

Perfect in Every Way! Cannot wait to return!
My husband and I spent over 4 weeks in this beautiful Casa. We enjoyed the location, comfort, convenience and beauty of El Faro. The staff - Maria and Walter - were very helpful and their attention to both the inside and outside of the Casa could not have been better. We liked the fact that we had access to Pelican Eyes and the amenidies of the resort - pools, restaurants and other activities. The spectacular views of the ocean and town from morning to nighttime from every room in the Casa will forever be in our memories.

Beautiful View
Comfortable with plenty of amenities. I can't imagine experiencing SJDS if we'd stayed anywhere else and am so glad we chose the Pelican Eyes Resort. Favorite things: Dining on the patio at sunset, sitting in the rocking chairs to read while listening/watching the many birds in the nearby trees and El Faro's beautiful gardens, swimming with our daughters in the beautiful pools, being about to make dinner at "home" in the well equipped kitchen. El Faro is only a short walk to the family & lap pools and the pool bar/restaurant, which also has an amazing view, and it is right across from the spa, although we didn't take advantage of the spa. Prepare to climb a LOT of steps, but we welcomed the exercise. We travelled with one elderly person, and it wasn't a problem to arrange a car to pick us up at our front door when he wanted to go into town. Otherwise, the walk down isn't too bad, and you can always return by car. Least favorite: El Faro is on the edge of the Pelican Eyes property, and there is construction going on right now on the adjacent property. They work using heavy machinery from about 7am - 6pm, so we had to put up with excessive noise and dust from the construction. I realize this is just a temporary issue that cannot be helped.

Breathtaking views and convenient location
I would recommend the booking of this house without any hesitation. Close to the pools and walking distance to the main restaurant. It is fully equipped with everything you might need and everything works. The views from the property were amazing too. My family and I had a wonderful time and a great experience!

Breathtaking views from this amazing property!
If you're looking for an amazing spot for a vacation getaway, then your search can stop. You have found the spot. Case El Faro is an absolute gem. Located within the spectacular Pelican Eyes Resort, El Faro is one of the best locations at the resort. The unabstructed views of the entire valley below and ocean from both the side porch and master suite porch are breathtaking! The villa itself is situated near the upper pools at the resort which makes it incredibly convenient. Inside the villa you will find the beauty of unsurpassed craftsmanship. The house was very clean and well taken care of. The housekeepers do an amazing job of making your stay as comfortable as possible. This villa is also special because it has the convenience of a backup generator for power. While we were there, we experienced a full resort power outage because of a storm that came through. Our villa however was still running on power thanks to the generator. And trust me, you'll want that air conditioner running if you're down there during the summer months with the heat and humidity. It kept us perfectly comfortable. Don't let the hike up the many stairs in the resort to get to this property detour you from staying here. The resort offers a free shuttle that will drive you to the top anytime you need if you don't feel like hiking. I actually hiked the stairs a few times and it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. The staff at Pelican Eyes were extremely friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were top notch. The resort was close enough that we walked down into town almost everyday to explore the local scene. I would definitely recommend staying at Casa El Faro for your next vacation. And i would highly recommend renting some ATV's and exploring the many beaches around San Juan del Sur. This was for sure a highlight of our vacation!

If you're going to SJDS you MUST stay here!!
Overall a fantastic place! Best view in the entire town. Pools are great and staff of pelican were top notch. The property/house does have a very bad ant problem but didn't bother my wife or I at all. I did purchase an ant repelant that I stayed around the doors and windows which help a lot. We had rented a Toyota hilux from the airport which made the ease of travel to and from the house and the great beaches around Nicaragua a breeze, I would highly recommend getting a car if you're planning on staying at el faro as there is quite a few steps getting around the pelican property and in to town. We will be staying here on every future trip to San Juan. No need to look anywhere else. Book it!!!

Simplemente lo mejor!
After purchasing property in San Juan Del Sur, I brought my wife and son down to Nicaragua. It was important their first experience was not a disappointment. As an added insurance policy, I decided to spend a bit more on our accommodations. El Faro paid-off in spades. El Faro has all the creature comforts of home, with a much better view--the SJDS bay! Its generous size gave us far more room to move around in than we're used to within conventional hotel space. The house was clean, the beds are comfortable and. although we didn't use it much, the kitchen has new stainless steel appliances. And, its air conditioners are super efficient, particularly when visiting during what was quoted as "the hottest day in 35 years." The walk to town, although paved with 117 stairs (yup, I counted them) only takes 6 minutes. So, if you're up for a little quad workout, it's no a big deal. Otherwise, you can use the resort shuttle service. Either way, El Faro is closely situated to all that SJDS offers. Thanks, in part, to El Faro, my family is now excited about the prospects of having our own beach home in Nicaragua. We plan to return to Pelican Eyes and El Faro as the construction process begins takes shape. I would recommend it to anyone.

Perfect house for our family of 4!
We loved El Faro! The view, the size of the rooms, the well-equipped kitchen...all great! We had breakfast on the balcony every morning and drinks while watching the fabulous sunset - there is plenty of outdoor space! The grounds are very well maintained, and even though it's dry season we still had lush tropical plants all around the house. The bedrooms are very large and perfect with a king bed in one room for the adults and 2 queens in the other room for the kids. Plus our own spacious bathrooms. We loved the decor, too! The ladies from ReMax were spot on with recommendations of things to do, from tours and things to see, to restaurants, even as far as recommending a great laundry service (you don't have access to a washer/dryer and the Pelican Eyes rates are high for laundry so they sent us to a very easy and reasonably priced spot in town). The only thing that would have made it better is a private pool for the kids since the Pelican Eyes pools were crowded - we were there on a really busy week (Easter). But the upside is the service at the pool restaurants was great, and it was nice to order drinks and snacks while there. Overall, between the house and service, an excellent experience in SJDS!

Perfect
El Faro is the ultimate house in San Juan Del Sur. Everything about the house was perfect. It was comfortable, modern, and had amazing daily maid service. The pictures are extremely accurate, however, don't quite do the property justice. The views from the front porch are simply amazing. It's a great spot to drink your morning coffee or watch the sunset. Pelican Eyes Resort's pools are incredible and a great place to relax. The only thing that we were actually worried about was the walk to town, but the house is quite conveniently located. The stairs to town are extremely easy. They may be a challenge for the elderly or small children, but anyone in decent shape shouldn't worry about the walk to town at all. We went back and forth all day long without any problems. Overall, I'd say this place is amazing. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in San Juan Del Sur.

View from the hill
We spent 1 week at El Faro villa located on the Pelican Eyes Resort, a family of 4, with two grown children. This was our second visit at Pelican Eyes and we were as happy this time as on our fist visit. One thing to keep in mind, is that the resort is located on a hill above the small town of San Juan del Sur, which makes for amazing views of the bay and is within walking distance to the town (location, location, location), but there are a lot of steps to access the different villas, so you have to be very fit and mobile to be able to navigate the grounds. They do offer shuttle services which you will need to you are staying in the upper townhouses, but we were warned that as the staff works on 'Nica' time, the wait for a drive down can be lengthy, so you need patience. We liked the layout of El Faro, which was a bungalow style with the two bedrooms at opposite ends of the villa, giving everyone their privacy. The advantage of the first villa we stayed at, Vista del Mar, which is two story, is that it is lower down the hill and thus a shorter walk back from town. El Faro was closer to the upper pools however, and had its own parking spot, which suited us as we rented a car on this trip. A big advantage of a Pelican Eye villa, as opposed to private villas in the area, is their proximity to town. Most other villas you would either have to drive or have a lengthy walk into town. The only exception would be the villas located on the north end of the bay, which are right on the beach. But most villas are in the hills around SJDS, requiring driving. El Faro was well kitted out, beds were comfortable, though some pillows were not but there were enough to find a soft one. Ants could be a problem but that's life in the tropics. Occasional brown outs and some issues with WIFI reception but not long enough to be an issue. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and my husband is more than happy to return to the Pelican Eye villas.

Breathtaking
El Faro was an amazing place to stay. The property is simply gorgeous and I think we had the best view in the whole town. Pelican Eyes is a great place to be able to relax and at the same time easily enjoy the culture of San Juan del Sur just a short walk away (though take note, there are a good amount of stairs involved). Nicole at Remax was also extremely helpful. She answered all my questions before and during the trip and had some fabulous recommendations for restaurants and activities in and around town. I would definitely recommend this place!
