Patio Elba Suites is a charming, small boutique property conveniently located about 10 minutes from both the cruise port and the airport. The hotel itself is quite lovely—minimally decorated, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with a small pool and hot tub that add to its boutique appeal. However, while the property feels inviting, the surrounding neighborhood does not. The area felt questionable, with visible graffiti and several closed or dilapidated buildings, and I would not feel comfortable walking alone there or being out late at night.
We arrived early on a Sunday morning around 8:00 a.m. and found the reception closed. After calling the two phone numbers provided several times, someone eventually answered and informed us that a staff member would arrive at 10:00 a.m. to store our luggage, with official check-in at 4:00 p.m. While waiting outside, we were repeatedly bitten by mosquitoes, which made the wait uncomfortable. There was no indoor waiting area, seating, television, or WiFi available for early arrivals—something most travelers would reasonably expect.
Someone arrived at 10:00 a.m., allowed us to store our luggage, and kindly granted us access to our room about an hour earlier than expected, which was appreciated. Entry instructions were sent via email, and communication throughout the stay was entirely email-based, so checking messages regularly is essential.
