It is very unusual hotel. The owners of the hotel are real friends of animals. There are numerous dogs, ducks and horses that were rescued and leave at the property. The hotel restaurant serves tasty vegetarian food.
The surrounding area is beautifulI. We've seen a lot of birds. The only reason for the lower score is the condition of the room. Our room was clean and housekeeping was good. However, This is more of motel style accommodation that requires renovation.
I have stayed at Lands in Love 5 times. It is such a beautiful property. Lots of hiking trails and lots of adventure trips available too. It is an animal rescue which makes me enjoy it even more. My favourite part is helping to walk the dogs.
We had an absolutely amazing time here. Very attractive and comfortable rooms. Incredible views of the cloud rain forest. INCREDIBLY delicious food and outstanding service. The dedication to animal rescue is exemplary and truly without equal anywhere else in our experience. This is a must-visit place for visitors to Costa Rica. Even the locals come to eat in the restaurant!
The signs on the road for the food were the first thing that brought us in then we ate and LOVED it so explored the ziplining next door and jumped right into that then decided to stay the night. It was so quiet and gorgeous! Again great food for breakfast and dinner. Last thing we did was canyoning which was a blast! Highly recommend this wonderful place.
Hi. My name is Andrew and I took my girlfriend to Costa Rica for the first time. This was my third time in Costa Rica. I have always stayed the Lands and Love Hotel because it is in the mountains and it has a lot of different and exciting excursions that you can pick from. It is a nice and quiet place to be. The hotel has cats, dogs, geese, ducks, fish, horses, sheep and goats. They have very nice friendly staff who is always willing to do whatever you need or want. We enjoyed our trip because it got us away from the New York City hustle and bustle. We would definitely go back.

An ok hotel
This hotel is just ok. Our room smelled like mold and I didn't feel too comfortable.

no love at all
We had reserved two rooms for the four of us. They put us in rooms #33 & #34 which are adjacent to the reception desk. Throughout the night and well into the morning the night staff were playing foosball, slamming doors, yelling loudly, and riding carts like children along the corridor. We stepped outside and asked them to please be quiet as we were trying to sleep but to no avail. In the morning the managers only reply to my complaint was that they were booked full. These rooms should never be rented out to guests. Barking dogs during the day were also annoying. That said, the food was good and the grounds nice.

Lands in Love hotel Costa Rica
The large property of the hotel is very well kept and the rooms are barely decent and expensive . The 100% vegetarian restaurant is overly priced in dollards instead of the local money and the food is quite oily . We found a lovely restaurant a few miles
away serving great dishes of fish and meat for half the price of their vegetarian lasagna .
The hotel location was too remote . if you enjoy the very muddy rain forest , plenty of mosquito bites and
some canopy tours activities in the middle of nowhere it is a place for you .
Also we stayed in December during the dry season
we got quite a bit of rain and the sky was mostly overcast due to the local rainforest climate .
Expect a lot of driving to get to more interesting parts of Costa Rica

Wonderful!
We just came back from Costa Rica and had a wonderful time.
We stayed 4 nights in Lands in Love and it was great; Everybody was so nice, the food was amazing, the panoramic view from the porch in front of the rooms is breath taking.
The pool was nice and clean. The rooms were simple but clean and the bed was very comfortable ( and I have a bed back, so that is very important to me).
The tours in the property itself and the ones they arranged for us were all in good taste with nice and knowledgeable guides. We got to see many birds, monkeys, snakes, frogs - even a red one with blue legs. Just great.
We will come back again.

Not your typical hotel
This hotel was located 1 km from La Fortuna, base site for exploration of Arenal volcano. Actually it is about 50 km fromo La Fortuna, on a twisty road. The place is whimsical and a little quirky. Someone like to paint flowers and other things on just about everything. There's lots of places to walk, lots of animals around (horses, cats, dogs, sheep). Rooms have beautiful views out over a canyon. It is in a cloud forest, so it can be on the cloudy and cool side. The Israeli owners didn't seem too hospitable - I got grilled just for asking for ice. The hotel restaurant was way overpriced for Costa Rica. There's a great restaurant just up the road with food for a fraction of the price...but you really need a car to get there unless you like lots of walking. Breakfast, included, was very good.
Natural surroundings are very nice. Adventure tours seem to be great and there are many nature trails that worth being visited.
Customer service was a bit rough. At arrival, we were said we did not have any reservation (which was actually not true). They believed us until I showed the expedia Booking Confirmation to them and then we were asked to wait. We had to wait at the reception desk for at least half an hour until they confirmed our booking. In the meanwhile we did not get any particular attention.
I had high expectations about their vegetarian food, but ingredients are in the range from average to cheap, so the food is not that good.
During my stay I met two people that are kind. Everyone else was quite rough.
Services and infrastructure are more like a hostel quality, but room rates are more like a hotel.
