If you are going to Caye Ambergris, Casa Nova should be your first choice. The main reason is that it’s in the best part of the island since the water is beautiful blue and sargasso free (unlike the other side), it’s private (only 4 suites) and it also has its own beach. The entire week we spend here, we felt privileged to have the whole beach for ourselves, it felt like being on our own private island. The staff is wonderful as well, from Nova and Kevin being best hosts, Nicaraguan chef Samuel making the most delicious meals, JC being so attentive (he makes the best pina coladas) and Evelin keeping our room pristine. They’re just the nicest and friendliest people. We enjoyed playing on the paddle board and kayaks on site. Breakfast is always included and dinner is offered to guest twice a week (I recommend you to have it) but you can always grab lunch at Secret Beach (they also own a hot dog stand that makes the best doggos) and it’s at walking distance.
Their 3 puppies are precious and we enjoyed their company. The drive to down is a bit crazy since there’s so many potholes and about 30 minutes, but I’m telling you it’s worth it because on the other side of the island where all the hotels are, the water smells and it’s always dirty because of the sargassum and on this side it’s perfect… oh and did I mention the sunsets? Epic sunsets.
