This hotel is on the cusp of being a really nice hotel. The exterior has been beautifully redone- now remodel the rooms! The furniture is old and there is not art work on the walls. Work on having the inside match the outside
Pros: Best deal during the holidays for a true 2BR / 2 bath suite. Great proximity to the beach. The staff is great; 5 star folks running a 2 star motel.
Cons: The staff, even though I brag on them, never answered a phone call before I arrived and there is no way to leave a message. No way to take a nap there! Folks running the place are active all freakin day long and making a lot of noise the entire time. It is noisy AF there. And, if it isn't the staff or repair crews, it's the neighborhood around it (loud ass cars and car alarms) and the city (trash trucks at least a few time a week and a street sweeper). The floors in our suite were filthy! My wife's socks were black after walking around in the room for an afternoon and my slippers were sticky on the bottom after the first day. It seems like this is a 1950s motel with all of the issues with a construction of that era (thin walls and thin floors). They run out of hot water, which is just great during a shower; so you have to take your shower early. Seemed like the folks above our room were moving all of the furniture back and forth and practicing as a marching band. The pool is heated so noisy ass kids were in it the last two nights of our stay (I guess parents are reluctant to teach manners to their kids these days). One of the two TVs didn't work at all.

This is not a 3 star hotel. Pretty much like an average motel, Didn’t have microwave while it was mentioned on the website that it has. Very small room and bathroom, Very expensive for what you get

Let me start with the positive- Location is great. Right by the beach and walking distance to some local restaurants. The room was nice. However we did have hot water to shower, the phone in the room did not work to call down to fix in the middle of the night. I reported it in the morning and they said they would check the heater. Long story short we never got hot water. The front desk reception pretty much said sorry instead of at least crediting us some money back for the inconvenience. The outside parking area was a hot mess due to construction but we managed to get a parking space. My opinion overpriced for what you get.
Friendly, helpful staff and just one or two minutes walk to the beach. We didn’t try the pool, but it looked inviting. I’m sure this property began it life as a motel, but it has been thoughtfully updated with pleasant furnishings and features. Wi-Fi worked well enough for us to stream a movie (although my son said Wi-Fi was weak in his room). There are even two EV charging stations. Our rooms were squeaky clean and reasonably sized for a quick weekend getaway. I appreciated the coffeemaker and tea kettle. The bathrooms were quite small but everything worked perfectly, with the shower doors being the only giveaway to the past life as a motel!
Very bad experience! There is a room behind their hotel that anyone can reach, without any protection. It's like a room remodeled in a garage, very small and without windows. We wanted to cancel and get a refund. We spent over three hours negotiating with the hotel and Expedia. The hotel said that if Expedia didn't cancel, they would show no rooms available and couldn't book for others, so they couldn't refund. But Expedia's reply was that they couldn't cancel if the hotel didn't agree to refund. It was a dead loop. I was skeptical about Expedia's control and description of the hotel. During the two hours I waited at the front desk, someone came to ask and they said no room available. Also, during the two-hour wait, Expedia kept saying they were calling the hotel, but the front desk told me no calls came in from Expedia at all.
The hotel is very near to the beach (walkable distance) and the Santa Barbara zoo is also walkable from the hotel.
The kitchen and amenities in the kitchen (including a few utensils that were provided in the kitchen) was a pleasant surprise.
One thing that we didn’t like was the washroom size. It was very small and without a bathtub.
Apart from that, the rooms were spacious, the front desk staff was courteous.
There was ample covered and open parking area for cars and there was 1 EV charging area also.
We are locals who wanted a staycation that wouldn't bust our budget. This place is in a great location, only a block from the beach, and a lot cheaper than the beach facing hotels. Yes, the room was tiny, with few amenities (but had a mini fridge and coffee maker) but super clean and quiet with ample parking. Just note that it is right next to another hotel and go to the correct check in office! It doesn't look like much from the street but we consider it a hidden gem we will recommend to our budget conscious friends.
Really wonderful property form the price. My room needed some repairs and updating, but the pool was heated and the person at the front desk was friendly. The property itself is very well kept and a stone's throw from the beach. I would definitely stay here again.
Our hotel was close to the train line and our room was close to the ice fountain
It was noisy all the time and I didn’t sleep
The room was humid and the amenities very low
I don’t recommend this hotel
Hopefully the young lady at the welcome desk for our checking was very kind
