Villa Verde is one of three villas situated at Quintinha au Sol, which has featured in TV's 'My Place in the Sun'. They are newly built and privately owned. Quintinha au Sol is a small rural property located in Gaula which is about 300 metres directly above Santa Cruz and less than 10 minutes from the airport. There are spectacular views over the bay of Abra, towards the Deserta Islands and to Ponto Sao Lorenço, the eastern tip of Madeira. At the same time Gaula is only twenty minutes from the centre of Funchal.

The villa is ideally situated for walkers and golfers - the Gaula levada, which is at the eastern end of the 'Levada dos Tornos', is less than 5 kilometres away and the two internationally famous golf courses, Palheiro and Santa da Serra, are both less than15 minutes by car.

With large balconies, terraced areas and mature gardens surrounding the villa, there is ample choice of seating and relaxing areas.............ideal for al fresco dreaming, drinking and dining!

Villa Verde is licensed for tourism under the strictly-regulated Madeiran 'Alojemente Locale' scheme (AL). The scheme requires holiday villas to conform to high safety, quality, service and insurance standards. For example, in the interests of safety, the villas only have electric equipment; there are no gas appliances. Mosquito nets are fitted to all bedroom windows. There is a WiFi internet connection and Satellite TV with 200+ channels

This was the perfect location for a family vacation. Conveniently close to the airport (but we didn’t hear the planes so this was great). The house is very clean and well equipped and the pool was great.

Amazing location
The villa was clean , spacious and everything available for in home cooking . We loved the pool- good size . It also had a great view of the ocean and the airport in the distance . The hanging chair was the winner for relaxation and just letting the sun kiss your face . Very quiet area . Birds singing . The owners were easily accessible and informative . They have a wonderful housekeeper who speaks great English . We found it to be a good location from which to explore Madeira ! We had a wonderful stay .

Not for the faint-hearted.
Although a bright and pleasant house, it is showing signs of a lack of maintenance, with numerous marks on the walls, several lights that don't work (along with the clock and the safe), doors which constantly rattle with air movement, handrails with peeling paint that comes off on your hands and clothing, and a front door lock which doesn't latch. The location is good, with great sea views, and even though the airport is so close you can see down onto the runway, the noise is not excessive. We stayed for 3 weeks, but the pool was only cleaned once, towels and bedding only changed once, and the villa wasn't cleaned at all. Not that we're dirty people, it just could have benifitted from a sweep or hoover, and the bathrooms being cleaned. Don't come to Madeira at all if you're a nervous driver, because the roads are all very narrow (single track) and incredibly steep, and the villa driveway is also both of these, with a very tight turning point by the house. We had a comparatively small car (Citroën C3) and I'm a confident driver, but I wouldn't want to try and turn anything bigger between the spikey-concrete walls 😉 The hosts, Peter and Fiona, were very cheerful and pleasant people, and were very accommodating with regards to check in and out timings.

Madeira Gaula - Villa Verde
Great location but make sure you hire a car as the villa is semi rural. The views from the balcony are fantastic and the property is easily big enough for 6 people. Only real niggles include the poor wifi coverage and the outdoor areas really need a deep clean. Otherwise great value for money.

Comfortable house, so nearly all right
Once you have found the property (Peter and Fiona were very helpful in that regard and we had no issues), it is well situated for visiting this island, comfortable and very peaceful. As a large property, we would have appreciated a little more in the kitchen, like a full set of wine glasses, and unfortunately the wifi is very slow and only works immediately outside and in a few areas on the edge of the house. Our attempts to get this resolved were largely ignored.

A wonderful family holiday
The property was great. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners, and the necessities. It is in a lovely location, if a little difficult to find (the sat nav did work) on some quite narrow roads, the sea views never got old. We found it a great base to explore the island, with some beautiful smaller towns near by with some lovely restaurants. The villa it self was definitely big enough for the 5 of us, with ample space, good areas outside to eat. The pool was great. The beds were very firm though, which became uncomfortable over the 11 days. If you are planning on having a car for the whole stay I would highly recommend this villa, we had a great holiday, and will definitely be going to Madeira again

Just wonderful!
Villa Verde had excellent facilities, genial and helpful hosts. The location is hidden and up several steep hills, but follow the directions given by the owners and you will find the villa. The trip up the hills is worth it as views are breath taking from the property. Although we did not spot any whales in the bay we did see many swifts, gisnt orange butterflies and lizards! The pool is very well maintained and we enjoyed daily swims. We would definitely recommend Villa Verde!

Can only say good things clean well kept great views friendly and helpful support staff just a few mins to airport or Funchal but quiet location high up from main roads.nice touch welcoming bottle of madiera wine. Would certainly recommend it to friends family island is wonderful,the capital is amazing and scenery stunning. only in Bavaria have I seen such overall cleanliness with every one seeming to take great pride in their houses gardens and island. The whole island is easy to get to though car rental is mandatory to really see the whole island. Too bad pool isn't heated so wasnt warm. Enough at this time of year to use.would I stay there again certainly without a doubt.

Great villa
Villa Verde is a lovely place for those who really want to get away from it all. It's iydillic location offers panoramic views & the peace & quiet of a countryside retreat. The villa has everything you will need such as washing machine, dish washer & a modern fully fitted kitchen. It has a God sized pool & sun terrace . Our only negative really was the very hard bed which we were not used to but that's our preference.

Villa Verde mid-February 2016
We stayed at Villa Verde for one week and found the property to be ideal for 4-6 people. The accommodation is spacious, elegant and well equipped particularly the kitchen. Own drive and dedicated parking, pool with spacious terrace and ample loungers and a delightful, secluded garden with a burgeoning avocado tree made for a v. pleasant stay. Our arrival was made particularly enjoyable by the warm welcome from Peter and Fiona Marsland from Madeira Island Direct, local agents for the property. Grocery essentials, a detailed tour of the villa, location of local supermarkets and to crown it all, a bottle of quality Madeira to get into the spirit of this paradise of an island! Particularly useful advice was to be selectively critical of all-Europe satnav device recommendations regarding routes. We quickly learnt to stick to main "ER" roads rather than narrow, often steep shortcuts. Walking levadas and the high routes around Pico Arieiro/Ruivo was stupendous, especially after a rare, overnight snowfall above 4000ft that had local people out in boots and ski clothes throwing snowballs and building bonnet-top snowmen at the weekend. The Sao Laorenco Peninsula walk is close by and a superb walk with unrivalled views and volcanic, desert-like vegetation. We will definitely stay at this villa again in the future as we have been bitten by the Madeira bug.

Ein sehr schön eingerichtetes Haus mit tollem Pool und grandiosem Blick auf das Meer. Wir wurden sehr freundlich von den Gastgebern empfangen, die uns gute Tipps für Restaurants gegeben haben. Das Haus ist trotz des nahen Flughafens sehr ruhig gelegen. Hervorragend zum Entspannen und Erholen! Zwei kleine Anmerkungen: Die Fernbedienung für den DVD-Player war nicht aufzufinden. Und die Auswahl und Beschaffenheit der vorhandenen Gläser passt nicht zum sonstigen hohen Standard des Hauses. Das sind aber nur Kleinigkeiten im Hinblick auf den rundum gelungenen Urlaub. Es war ein toller Urlaub
Das Haus liegt schön mit tollem Blick aufs Meer. Den Flughafen hört und sieht man , aber es stört nicht. Es ist sehr sauber und hat alles was man benötigt. Der Pool ist tief genug (132-140cm )und man kann in den 8 Meter Länge auch etwas schwimmen . Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.
