Wish we stayed for longer
We had a wonderful time. The house and property were great and management could not have been more helpful. There is no shortage of things to do in the area, but you can spend days exploring the trails and waterfalls that are a short hike out the front door of the house. We wish we had a few more days to do more!

December stay at river house.
Great place to get away. The private trails offered some great waterfalls. The adventurous route can be tricky if you’re not used to mountain hiking. Our dogs loved playing in the creek. And I was even able to catch a few trout. An added bonus is the house is close to lots of other waterfalls and trails too. We were able to hike 7 waterfalls in a little more than half a day. We stayed during the “off season” so most places were not busy and easy to get in to. Be sure to check out the local events. We went to a few of the “12 days of Christmas” and were able to meet some really nice locals. Great experience to get away (zero cell service 🙌) and have fun.

Great Vacation
I'm giving 4 stars due to the Sauna not functioning. That amenity was considered a major selling point, as I was looking forward to that relaxation and polar plunge into the river. Of course, we were not notified of it's outage until right after we sent our last payment. Could have offered a slight discount or something. Other than that, it was a great place and stay.

Generally an outstanding week. A couple of suggestions: there is nowhere in the master bedroom to hang clothes. A chifforobe would be nice. Also, pots and pans in the kitchen could be updated.

Rainy days!!
The "River House" was very clean and safe. The listing photos were accurate. The hosts were nice and available. Our trip was planned for five nights. Unfortunately, the weather for the entire trip was very rainy. I can not comment on the private trails, we couldn't do any of them due to weather. The only thing that I felt could of been a little better explained was how far off main Hwy this property really is. The road is gravel and winding and very confusing in the dark. If you or your children like to stay connected to the internet.. this is not the place for you. I will say if solitude is what you seek in a vacation rental then this is the perfect spot.

Nice home, incredible location
Nice mountain home, incredible mountain river location. If you are a hiker, this is an amazing place to stay. You can choose your level of difficulty starting at the private trail head you can access from this property. I am 74 years old, and the walk down the upper river trail by the old school bus to Bedrock Falls was like a one mile walk in our local park. The walk upstream from Bedrock Falls to spectacular Exit Falls is more challenging, but with some prompt and easy to follow tips from Tim, I made it. However, don’t let the lazy river in front of the house fool you. One of the only true river slot canyons in the eastern USA starts about a quarter mile down stream and exits just above Exit Falls. A quick search on the internet revealed this to be a truly wild stretch of mountain river. There are a couple of access trails from the lower river trail you can get a glimpse of the canyon, but those couple of looks were enough to convince me you would probably need a group with rock climbing and canyoneering skills to safely experience this stretch of river. Meanwhile, back at the cabin my wife and friends thoroughly enjoyed the serenity of the cabin to play cards and stream movies!! Thanks Tim!

Amazing views and very cozy cabin
We really enjoyed our stay here, I can't say enough about how amazing Tim is, quick to respond to questions and very helpful. We loved the openness of the main living space and that everything was on one level (very rare it feels in the mountains to not have to climb stairs!) The river views are amazing and we loved grilling on the cabana. The indoor and outdoor fireplace gave options to stay warm and cozy together. Can't wait to come back, hopefully in warmer weather to enjoy the river. The city of cashiers and highlands are less than 30 minutes from the house and were also, delightful.

Fantastic Experience - Everything was perfect!!!
There are not many times that I can write that my vacation was perfect, but I can this time. Starting from the top, Tim, the owner, is welcoming and very responsive. Any questions I had were answered immediately. The house is super clean and very comfortable. I particularly loved the floor plan. Each couple had their own separate wing so each had plenty of privacy. The kitchen is well equipped and very comfortable for several adults to prepare foods at the same time. We played games, made vision boards for 2022, and shopped and ate plenty. I could go on and on, but I'll save you that. Just want to say, I wouldn't hesitate to go back and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Unicorn to my family and friends.

Tim genuinely cares for this property, for his guests and their experience overall and will bend over backwards to ensure its a good one. Will stay again!

An Amazing Vacation
The family enjoyed everything from the nice weather to the water tubing and everything in between. The hiking trails were quite an adventure especially the "steep Rock" (not for the elderly) The waterfall made the this trail worth it but the main trail was more for family adventure.. To top off our day we visited the Whitewater Equestrian Center for a casual ride through the mountains. Great Trip!!!

Just What I Imagined
I booked this property a year in advance because Covid ruined my 40th birthday and I was determined to go somewhere awesome, and this property did not disappoint. The town of Cashier’s is just close enough, but far enough away at the same time to still feel like you’ve escaped a little bit. There are neighbors, but if anything they enhanced our stay because they were super sweet embracing my two loud little boys screaming like wild men in the woods and gave us tips on where to find great trails and waterfalls. The home itself had EVERYTHING; there were even tubes stored underneath the house that we took the falls down a little trail in the neighborhood. It really is just as magical as it looks in the pictures.
