It is truly a rainforest lodge experience. The grounds, pool, and nearby reserve are beautiful. Don't miss walking through the nature trail where many plants' medicinal uses are explained. Rooms are good sized, lots of hot water with good pressure. But the cacophony of insects and birds, which can't be muted as the window/door has no shutters or glass, just a screen, might keep some awake. A few bugs in the room were expected with normal clearances under the doors, not needing to be sealed in this climate, and not a fault of the hotel's cleanliness. If you are expecting an authentic rainforest experience you will not be disappointed. Breakfast was average, typical Costa Rican "gringo hotel" fare but with friendly service. There's not much of a town, just a few tour outposts and maybe a restaurant or two. But you would mostly be visiting this area for rafting, ecotourism, or outdoor adventures.
