All of the employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and close to everything you need. The breakfast included with the room was a great way to start every morning and the food was very good. Additionally, it's great to have the park entrance right at the back of the motel. Once you have breakfast you can head out onto the suspension bridge and hike several of the trails. The place is very, very clean everywhere. I would recommend this place very much.
The Tirimbina surroundings are beautiful and the access to the trails was amazing! Was very happy to have on site dining and the breakfast was great. The room walls are very thin and the accommodations are basic.

trails and wildlife
This is a great place for people who live to walk trails and view wildlife. Staff were nice. There’s a safe in the room. It was quiet at night. The only complaint I have was some mold in the ceiling. It didn’t look healthy. There were other rooms without mold that I’d stay in next time. Staff were nice about offering for me to move.
I loved the rustic charm of Tirimbina. Being on. Biological reserve was a highlight of my Costa Rican tour. Lots of animals and birds . Calm atmosphere. Staff was wonderful at pointing out any creatures they saw. Having access to the hiking trails was a big part of our adventure. I look forward to returning .
Amazing suspension bridge where we spotted massive iguanas in the trees. Great self-guided trails. Room very clean and lots of facilities. Lovely balcony. Would recommend
The lodge is fantastic and wonderfully ecologically friendly - and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful for visitors to the rainforest park and beyond! the place is clean and comfortable and well maintained, with air con if you absolutely need it, and the accommodation is a great value. I missed the biologists talk about bats, and I did not see any frogs, but they loan you boots and an umbrella for walking in the rainforest. The whole reason to visit is the rainforest reserve.
A really great place to see wildlife in Costa Rica
Tirimbina far exceeded our expectations. We booked a basic cabin (other rooms are available) and the bathroom was next door. The restaurant served good food from a limited menu and it was also possible to get food in the nearby village. We stayed 3 nights and took 3 guided tours which were excellent. The guides were very knowledgeable and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. If you want to experience the wildlife in Costa Rica this is within a 2 hour drive of the capital and well worth a visit.
This place is a classic rainforest lodge. The rooms are basic, but very clean and everything works. The lodge food was pretty good at breakfast. That was our only meal there.
There is a very long hanging bridge that leads you to several trails in the forest. Hardly anybody was on the trails... so if you want solitude it’s easy to get.
A beautiful location, fantastic staff (especially the guides) and a range of really interesting tours to make sure guests gain the most from their visit. The rain forest is stunning, teaming with wildlife and eady to access from the lodge.
Tirimbina is a research facility located on extensive grounds with tropical plantings, colorful birds and a variety of wildlife. The best reason to stay here is to have the opportunity to explore Tirimbina's vast rainforest accessed via the longest suspension bridge in the region. We spent two days just roaming the excellent trails and saw a good number of birds and wildlife.
There are a variety of room types offered, some with no a/c & a shared bath, but we booked the deluxe room with a/c and were pleasantly surprised at how clean, quiet and comfortable it was, with a nice hot shower and a lovely semi-private patio. The entire staff was very welcoming, especially the lady who checked us in and the included breakfast buffet the next morning was delicious with a nice variety of foods. Tirimbina is one of the better hotels in the sarapiqui region and we would definitely stay here again.
Overall the place is great. It is not fancy, but the environment is incredible and the people that work there are very nice and helpful. The only issue is with the bridge to the hiking and site seeing areas. If anyone in your party has even a slight fear of heights they will be unable to experience much of what makes this place so special. That isn't the property's fault, as there is a large river one needs to cross, but it is something to be considered if anyone in your group has such issues. Wifi worked fine and again, the grounds are incredible.
The accommodation itself is simple but perfectly adequate, but what makes the stay really special (and excellent value) is the FREE access to the national park with lots of birds and animals. The restaurant was also very good with an excellent breakfast (included) and well cooked, tasty and good value other meals. Roof walks on high bridges was a notable feature.

Was very close to rainforest therefore you expect a few bugs and we did have some ants in our bathroom. Room was clean and comfortable. Food was good. Can't beat location though if want to be close to wildlife.

Basic room in great location
Loved the rainforest walks. The restaurant was fine. We stayed in a room with bunk beds and shared bath. Was OK.
Enjoyed the forest. Had fun walking the trails. Saw quite a few howler monkeys at close range. Chocolate Tour was amazing. Jasmine was a great guide. Bird Tour was wonderful. Steve did a great job. Appreciated his knowledge and sense of humour. Super guide. That is a happy place. All staff was great.

Average hotel, I was expecting more.
the price is very expensive and the breakfast was ugly and stale.
We stayed in one of the garden rooms which was very clean and comfortable. The water pressure/temperature and air conditioning all worked very well. David checked us in and showed us to our room - his customer service skills could not be faulted. You can sit on the small patio outside the room and watch a vast assortment of birds (including Hummingbirds). Be sure to do a couple of the tours, we did the Chocolate Tour, which was excellent, fun and informative. We also did the Bat Program which was just amazing. Our tour guide for both tours was Jazmin and she was excellent - very passionate about what she does, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The food was tasty and fresh. The location is wonderful - cross the suspension bridge and you are in the Rainforest!

Bare bones
The location of the lodge and access to the trails is amazing. The rooms are the bare basics. My family and I decide to look at it as camping. We were fortunate enough to have two people for four bunkbeds so we could double up the mattresses. We had bunkbeds in the room, fans, and one overhead light. The security was very good in regards to our car while parked overnight and during the day. The breakfast was not very good at all and in fact they ran out of food before it was due to be closed. We decided to not eat there for any other meal. There a much better restaurants in town. The facilities were somewhat clean, but the shower heads did not heat the water in the shared bathrooms. The next time I would go for the hikes and hanging bridge but not actually stay at the lodge.
The staff are amazing!! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Walking across the suspension bridges and through the jungle was a great experience. The night tour was awesome - informative and fascinating! We got to see many creatures - opossum, porcupine, kinkajous, many frogs, and even a tarantula! . The cocoa tour was interesting and tasty. The guides are extremely passionate about protecting the forest and its creatures. Karolina was a marvelous guide - extremely passionate and knowledgeable. If you get the chance to do on a tour with her do it!
