A Pleasant November stay!
Our family of seven stayed at Deerpath Lodge for nine days. The property is well cared for and clean. The owners give guidance on how to care for their place so it stays in a well kept condition and also have informative signs to indicate where things are kept. Their lodge is pleasantly decorated with an up north theme and they even had it decorated for Christmas, which was festive. The kitchen is well stocked and I also brought items for specific dishes I planned to make. There are games and puzzles especially for the little ones. Erika communicated with us via texting to check if we had any questions. All and all, it was a pleasant stay and we would consider staying their again.

Pleasant Stay
The cabin is lovely, clean, and very orderly. (Do check that everything is in order and, if not, notify the proprietor.) We enjoyed all the amenities such as the lovely outdoor living spaces, the fire pit including firewood, various watercraft, a woodsy road behind the cabin for walks, and the generous check-out time (1:00 p.m. in our case). The cabin is conveniently close to Spooner (lots of shops/restaurants) and a lovely distillery just over a mile away. The one drawback for us was the county road that runs close to the cabin's lake which was noisy at times. The proprietor was helpful and responded quickly when contacted. Pleasant getaway!

Beautiful home, very clean
Beautiful home, we all enjoyed the accommodations. Had everything we needed. Good location. My only complaint would be the rule about no food or drinks on the furniture. Us adult ladies would like to drink a glass of wine sitting somewhere more comfortable than the dining table. But overall, I would definitely recommend to others and stay again myself!

Relaxing and comfortable!
We choose to stay here because the reviews have all been positive. In addition, it was located close to the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery and we were gathered to pay tribute to my dad. The location was perfect for what we needed and the house worked great. We loved the access to the lake, availability of paddle boards, kayaks, and paddle boats. In addition, the air hockey table provided a little cousin rivalry that won’t be forgotten. The outside deck space was comfortable and everything we needed was available. We would definitely stay again!

Read review for more details
My husband and I have renting VBROs for 30 years, so we have a lot of experience with properties and their owners. We feel it is important to be honest in our reviews for future renters. Let me also state that there were two other couples with us and they share this opinion. The property is pristine. The outside deck was clean, the windows were clean and they even raked the beach before our arrival. The pictures do make the house look larger than it is. Well equipped. Everything you’d need for the kitchen. Kayaks, Paddleboats and floaties all clean and ready for use on the crystal clear lake. Beds very comfortable. We want to believe that the many texts and rules (4 pages!) are because the owners have had bad renters in the past, but instead of “relax and enjoy” we were on pins and needles feeling like we’d break the “rules”. "No barefeet outside." "Use this door to the lake." "Keep the straps on the garbage cans for bears." Another text that mentioned we should use the dish pan if we were going to be doing a lot of cooking. (this one made us truly wonder if we were being monitored). We do understand that in order to keep this lovely cabin in pristine condition you have to have rules, but as adults with impeccable reviews ourselves, we did not need to be micro-managed, like we were unable to read the rules in the first place or feel like we were being watched. I cannot imagine bringing children to this property, although I see that others successfully have.

Fantastic home in a great location
This home was perfect for our family of four. The location was ideal. We headed into Spooner and were able to check out their farmer's market and stores. We spent another day in Shell lake at the beach. As for this home, it's incredibly clean and well taken care of. From kitchenware, beach toys, board games, welcome basket.. They've thought of everything and more to make the stay wonderful. We spent most of our time at the cabin playing board games and down by the lake. Erika was great with communication and promptly answered any questions we had.

Relaxing week at wonderful cabin
Our family enjoyed a wonderful week of relaxing at the cabin. With our older kids, the kayaks and SUPs were a hit, and my husband enjoyed catching lots of pan fish. When not on the water, we enjoyed the air hockey table and many board games (we brought our favorites). The Perlick Distillery down the road has a wonderful patio and delicious cocktails as well. We like to cook together, and the kitchen has all the basics we need. It was a great, relaxing week of family time. We all agreed we would love to return to this beautifully apportioned cabin.

Family vacation at the perfect place
We had 8 people stay here (4 adults, 4 kids) for a week. The amenities on site were great - we took full advantage of the air hockey table, all water toys and multiple outdoor seating areas. There are grocery stores nearby to get necessities for your stay, and Hayward & Spooner are close by for easy day trips. The lake is clean and quiet. The house is very clean and has great space for a larger size family. The loft was perfect for the kids and the basement was great for adults once the kids went to bed. The extra details (water toys, convenient hoses to wash off, stocked coffee and kitchen gadgets) made this such a great experience!

The cabin was great! We had nice weather the first two days and enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards and boats. It rained one day and we took advantage of the coziness of the cabin and played games and relaxed. The furnishings and beds were very comfortable, and the cabin was clean and well stocked. We are talking about going back next year!

Perfect, private getaway!
I can’t say enough about this cabin. It was absolutely stunning and worked perfect for my family with 2 young kids. It was on a very private road (little to no vehicles), nicely furnished and decorated, spotless, loft was perfect for my kids and had lots of puzzles/games provided, plenty of kitchen supplies, beautiful view of the lake, lots of wood provided for fire, tons of water toys and amazing yard for my kids. Communication was easy and she even sent us a few personal texts during our visit to make sure we had what we needed. Would definitely recommend and will be back. For families with kids, the water was shallow 1-4 feet at the end of the pier and was a gradual decline. Bottom wasn’t terrible but like most lakes, a little slimey :) but kids don’t seem to care! And the Maui mat was perfect for water play so they didn’t have to just jump on/off the dock. Air hockey in basement was also fun entertainment for them.

I rented this unit for family members, and I did not visit the site. These are their comments. They were very pleased with everything. I live in Shell Lake, and we had a family gathering for a celebration of life for my husband. I was very pleased to find a unit available so close with sleeping accommodations for that many people.

Idyllic Family Getaway!!!
Already looking forward to our next stay — this property had everything we needed *and more* for a relaxing weekend away in the picturesque Northwoods! The lodge was beautifully furnished & equipped with everything we needed for our stay, along with some little luxuries to make it feel like home (high-quality linens, towels, etc.) It rained the first day we were there, but entertainment certainly wasn’t lacking with the cozy atmosphere, games (board and air-hockey!), and smart-tv. The welcome guide had thoughtful suggestions on places to visit in nearby Spooner—we particularly enjoyed the Spooner General Store and adjoining coffee shop—the perfect place to get a warm drink and some Northwoods merch/souvenirs. When the sunshine came out, we enjoyed fishing from the pier, and sitting on the upper deck while grilling and eating our dinner. Our 9mo old daughter had plenty of space to move around freely, and I appreciated the kitchen was stocked with dishes for little ones! I grew up going “up north” with my family and Deer Path Lodge hit all those notes of nostalgia! It’s the kind-of-place with the kind-of-memories I want my daughter to have when she’s grown up. I cannot emphasize enough how family friendly this property is. If you want a peaceful, stress-free family vacation with plenty of on-site entertainment (did I mention all the water toys for summer?!) in the Northwoods, this is THE spot! Thanks for a lovely weekend Erika, Kyle, and Emma!

Lovely space in beautiful North Woods
We had a great, relaxing stay at this property. We really enjoyed the outdoor space, and our stay was enhanced by the private nature of the lake. We did some fishing, and then were able to relax inside with plenty of space for our family of five. We appreciated that the owner had beach towels available, and a cooler to use. The provided firesticks for S'mores make enjoying the fire pit really easy. Air conditioning was a must for us, as it was hot during our stay, and we appreciated how it made the space very comfortable. Loved the gift basket that welcomed us upon our arrival - it made it feel like we were truly staying in someone's home rather than just another VRBO. Sarona is a great spot - be sure to check out Perlick Distillery for amazing cocktails and food trucks (it's even kid friendly with a large space for yard games.) And for Friday night fish fry, head over to Butternut Golf Course for some lightly battered fish that is so so good. Thank you to our hosts for a lovely stay!

Beautiful cabin up north
We were looking for a quiet weekend getaway for our family and this was a fantastic choice! The cabin was very clean, nicely updated, and really comfortable. Great layout, and fun details like the air hockey table and play area in the loft were a nice bonus. The kitchen was well-equipped, and it was nice having the dishwasher available. We used the lower porch more than the upper porch, but both had really nice views and nice outdoor furniture. Beds, couches, and recliners were all really comfortable, making for a cozy and relaxing stay. The SmartTVs and wifi all worked great, as well. We enjoyed a fire in the firepit, and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Most of all, our daughter had the time of her life catching over 20 frogs and toads of different varieties in the backyard. There were at least 3 different kinds of treefrogs, including Cope's Gray, as well as wood frogs, leopard frogs, and American toads! We caught lots of bluegills and sunnies, as well as some small bass. We saw a bunch of turtles, a group of ducks, and a great blue heron, as well! We visited in early September and had to watch for yellowjackets and falling acorns when down on the dock and the beach, but the kids played on the Lily Pad foam mat for HOURS at a time, and we took a couple of peddleboat rides around the small lake. The water was really nice and very clear! It was a very quick drive to Spooner and Shell Lake, which is nice, too. We love this area and really enjoyed this beautiful cabin!

Perfect getaway!
This was a peaceful and beautiful location! The hosts did an excellent job, and so much thought put into the details! It was a pristine and beautiful house/cabin… So many things were like new! Only things we needed to grab from town were food/drinks/bait. Even the tapwater in the kitchen tasted great! We had so much fun, kayaking/pedal boating up and down the lake and lounging on the Lillypad! My kids loved the sleeping loft, frogs in the yard, all the water toys, air hockey table, and all the little “bear“ details. Kids can easily fish from the dock as there were so many fish! We found that the coves on the lake (which we could pedal boat from) had some bigger fish for big kids/adults to enjoy fishing! Loons came out later in the day, and were such a soothing sound on the water! We were also pleasantly surprised by the bug defense in the yard! Such a great retreat!

Excellent place to stay
We really enjoyed everything they had to offer, with the kayaks, the paddle board, the pedal boats and the water Lilly Pad. We liked that it was a quiet, private lake where we could fish without disturbances. The zero-entry sandy beach and clear water was definitely nice. Easier for the kiddos for sure, which made it easier for me. We saw some deer, and just had a relaxing time on the upper deck and lower patio too. Everything was clean, loved the cute loft area, and was nice to have some games and puzzles to do. Kids loved the Air Hockey Table! That was a hit. Thank you for having some coffee variety and tea as well. Spooner is a cute town, enjoyed the gift shop with so much stuff, and the coffee shop next door. Their breakfast sandwiches were soooo good! Great donuts at the bakery also. Can’t wait to come back in the winter to do some ice fishing! Might even need to do a Fall trip to see all of the change in tree colors.
