I had a 22-hour stopover in Kuala Lumpur, flying from Hong Kong to Brisbane, so I needed a convenient place to spend the night, as I had no intention of sleeping in the airport. I also had never been to Malaysia, so was excited by the prospect of spending a day looking around. I booked at The Good Traveler´s Hostel in part because it said that it was an airport hotel. It turned out to be 20km from the airport, and the management did not receive my request for transport until after I had already figured out a taxi on my own at the airport, so that was a bit disappointing. After speaking with the owner, however, I learned that Hotels.com does not send the messages immediately. If you need transport, go to the hotel´s website and message them using that email, NOT through the booking site.
I was also disappointed because I chose this place in part because of the ¨free bicycle loan¨ available. There were no bicycles, which was a real bummer. I did go for a walk, but I had not brought my walking shoes (only flip-flops), so I could not go far. (My walking shoes were packed in the suitcase which was checked all the way through to Brisbane.)
In the morning, there was no staff anywhere to be seen (nor any maps), so I could not figure out what to do, where the train station was, where I might go, etc. But the room was clean and well-lit, with good (controllable!) air conditioning, and the owner personally drove me back to the airport. Nice guy. I wish him well with this venture.
