Excellent Contingency Plan And Extra FriendlyStaff
Each time I visit Shanghai, I booked this hotel. The rating may not be the best in Shanghai but in terms of location (near tourist belt), I love it. However, I must commend the management and its staff for not affecting my stay even though there was a power cut due to, according to the staff, owner bosses quarrel and I had to move out to another hotel. There were about 30 policemen protecting the hotel at the lobby and as many people who came to create trouble standing outside the hotel. The staff found and booked for one hotel nearby (of the same price) and even leading me and help to carry my stuff to that hotel. Excellent attitude and service! I would still go back to this hotel at my next visit.

Overnight stay in Shanghai
decent hotel very close to the Bund. The place seems fairly old in its décor but the room was clean. Bed was NOT good. Very hard mattress... not comfortable. Otherwise the room was fine. Pretty much just needed to get an overnight sleep and shower so didn't really see much else about the place. No reason not to stay here again but I'm sure there are nicer places for the same price.

The best about this hotel is how close it is for bund and night times sights of the city lights. A very big room with comfortable bed though the shower/bath was not very good. The stay was overall worth it because of price and the actual area is good also

Close to shopping centre and Bund
The hotel was outdated, the flooring, decor, bedding, service and staff. The room smelled of smoke even though I was ensured by the front desk it was a non-smoking room. The windows in the room could have been cleaned (Alex and AJ's message was still there written in dust from earlier 2016). The only good thing about the hotel was the location, which is close the Bund about 35 mins walk.

The staff were helpful but the room wasnt especially impressive - smelled of old smoke despite being a non smoking room and the shower tiles were a bit grimy. However, good location, 5 minutes from a Metro station and free luggage storage on the day we checked out

Good location, facilities are lacking
We were only here for a few hours. We arrived at 1am and after a long day, were unable to shower due to a lack of hot water. The next morning at 8am my boyfriend was able to get hot water, but I wasn't. Very disappointing, as this hotel is a HOTEL isn't a cheap hostel. The room was clean enough, no complaints there. Staff was friendly, the night desk attendant spoke minimal English but was able to tell us what we needed, however, the two employees of the morning staff hardly spoke English at all. Location is sketchy at night - we arrived at 1am to (seemingly crazy, or at the very least very drunk) men hanging out on the street, and one of them threw something at us. Be sure to take a picture of the entrance of the hotel for when you arrive, as the entrance is a little difficult to find.

wifi was a joke
The hotel location is wonderful, room is huge, n staffs r very friendly. Breakfast was good. But they need to improve their wifi n AC. We were not able to use the wifi at all n the room was very warm n AC didnt work.

Elegance Bund Hotel.
We just had a hard time expressing ourselves since they don't understand english. Very limited comprehension. And not very accommodating unlike our next hotel along Nanjing rd. and the towels were worn out. But water was strong. It's an old 3star hotel for me.

Not as advertised.
Not like the other hotels we stayed at in China. Location was wrong on Expedia map. Didn't say anything about not having window access...oh wait, it had Windows that opened about 4 inches onto concrete. Had a SEE THROUGH door to the bathroom....Really....when was that ever in style???? Everything had a price on it, combs, even a price if you vomit...About $8. Also, had condoms in the hotel. Went down to get a massage at the hotel massage area....it was just a bed, so I held off. A little suspicious. On the upside, it was on the Bund and it was cheap.

Not a fancy hotel but excellent value
Staff were friendly and helpful. The subway was only 10 minutes walk. The Bund was a 3 minute walk. We would book there again if we go to Shanghai
