The hotel was clean, and that's a big part of the service when you travel, however, the cleaning staff door was fairly close to my room, and they were constantly slamming it -- at 7AM on a Sunday morning until 5 or 6 in the evening. My hours are not typical, and I really didn't appreciate the slamming door, or the fights that seemed to erupt between 3 of the cleaning staff. I think that's rude to be loud late at night or early in the morning.
Also, the bartender at the bar in the lobby bordered on rude, and was not helpful or friendly and included a fairly large service charge even there was only one of me (and I am from New York and usually tip 20-25% on cocktails. She deserved zero, but I wasn't given the option.
Finally the hotel was quite removed from the Bund, and the tourist areas of the City: The savings from the hotels lower costs was spent on the 3 or 4 taxis I had to take each day.
