Getaway weekend
upon arriving, we couldn't get into the driveway as one of the maintenance workers had parked there and, after calling and contacting someone on the property, they contacted to him and we still had to wait 30-45minutes for someone to move the vehicle before we could pull in and unload to begin out stay. The rest of the weekend went well until Saturday when we were infested by ants in the kitchen, little gnats throughout the morning and afternoon and a few other insect invaders inside the cottage. Everything else was perfect as we did appreciate the opportunity to get away, do a little fishing and just relax without the weekly busyness and disruptions. Thanks for having this available.

Great Getaway
Clean, convenient location, cozy. Easy to get to with 4x4 in snow. Convenient parking. Large kitchen and living space. Will definitely rent this cabin again. There is no clothes washer, but there is a dry. Clothes washer not needed, but shown in the listing and wasn't there when we stayed.

Decent option
Cabin has a tiny bedroom and bathroom but huge kitchen and large living room. Certainly nothing special but nothing wrong with it. Location is right off the main road but no traffic sounds were heard. It's convenient if you plan to be out and just need a place to stay at night.

Just what we needed
This is a "rustic" accommodation. It was as advertised and served our purposes, as we just needed a place to get away to. Even though the highway is in view, it was still quiet and peaceful. Took advantage of the grill on the porch. Just a few glitches...there was no creamer or sugar for coffee, and no ice in the freezer. However, the store is close by, so we worked around it.

THE LITTLE COTTAGE
IT WAS A NICE LITTLE PLACE. THE PLACE APPEARED CLEAN, BUT THE FIREPLACE WAS NOT CLEANED NOR WAS THE FLUE CLOSED SO THE SMELL OF OLD STALE SMOKE AND ASH FILLED THE PLACE AND IT MADE OUT CLOTHES AND BELONGINGS LIKE STALE SMOKE AND ASH. ALSO THE BACK DOOR WAS UNLOCKED WHEN WE ARRIVED. I ALSO FOUND A DAY LATER THAT THE KITCHEN WINDOW WAS NOT LOCKED PROPERLY SINCE THE LOCK WAS MISSING AND THE SLIDE LOCK WAS NOT IN PLACE TO KEEP THE WINDOW SECURE. SECURITY IS AN EXPECTATION WHEN STAYING AT A HOTEL, OR VACATION RENTAL. WE WERE ABLE TO GET ON THE WIFI AFTER WE RECONNECTED THE PORT PROPERLY. THE STAY WAS NICE OVERALL. WE HAD FUN HIKING AND VISITING AROUND THE AREA. WE LOVED STAYING HERE SO WE COULD CONTINUE ON TO YOSEMITE FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY. THIS MADE OUR TRIP EASIER AND SHORTER TO YOSEMITE.

The Cottage at Shaver
Overall a nice cozy place to stay. Many of the previous reviews are very accurate. Pros: Close to shops and restaurants, lots of trees directly out the window. Wonderful walks through the neighborhood. The cabin was clean and well stocked. Kitchen is beautiful. No need to contact owner/operator. Cons: Close to the busy Hwy 168 (road noise was often heard...). Smells of smoke (not cigarettes, but fireplace...), the washer was STILL not working (not that we needed it...). Bedroom is quite small. Many outlets were taped over. There was WiFi, but it wasn't connected to the internet. Again, overall a pleasant experience!

Quaint little mountain cottage
My husband and I wanted to get away from it all and enjoy some fresh mountain air. This little mountain gem was perfect. Nothing fancy but all the comforts needed. Great location, since it did snow one day we were right off the main road. Would definitely recommend.

Hot as an oven, old & not kept up
Overall really small. Bathroom was ridiculously small, super uncomfortable to take a shower. There should be a disclaimer that in hot months this “cabin” (glorified name for a trailer) works as an oven. My pets got overheated from the heat inside the cabin. Things were broken, not working & overall pretty shabby. The smell of smoke caused me to have multiple asthma attacks. I would never recommend this cabin during summer months. Only upside LOCATION!

Great location, easy to access the lake
We arrived the first day of a heat wave (90+ degrees), so the cabin was pretty hot inside. There's no AC but there are fans. We brought our own fan as well since others mentioned the cabin wasn't well-stocked. Now for the pros and cons. Pros, great location, easy to get to the lake and the town. Bed was comfy and there are two TV's plus wifi and satellite cable (basic only). The Cabin was clean inside and has the very basic necessities needed to get by. If you are planning to do any extensive cooking, you may want to bring your own supplies. Cons, it's close to the road which didn't bother us too much but the main property management office is right next door and shares parking and the driveway. The shower is super small and awkward to use, especially if you are a large human. Other than that, our stay was great! I'd come back again.

Not Bad, Could Be Better
We didn't have the highest expectations because of the pictures, which are relatively accurate, but there were a few things that impacted our stay for the worse. Before that, the few pros: -The cabin is centrally located near the town with the market and restaurants. -The kitchen is nice and big. Spices (minus salt and pepper) were provided in the kitchen although I'm not sure how old they were. The fridge/freezer is relatively new and very clean. -The house was clean on arrival, and a few laundry pods were provided. The washer/dryer unit is very old but works. -The bed is comfy and the sheets are comfortable, which did surprise us given what we saw from the rest of the house. The bedroom is pretty small but worked in our favor because it was the only room in the house that was warm enough for us to be comfortable in. -The bathroom is small but clean, and amenities were provided and a good amount of towels. The cons: -The house was very cold. We were told not to adjust the thermostat, so we didn't. We traveled here end of March/beginning of April, so it wasn't the beginning of winter. Old-school electric heaters are provided but unless you're literally sitting right next to it you can't feel it, and they're not strong enough to warm up an entire room. If the thermostat can't be adjusted and electric heaters need to be provided, they should at least be stronger and newer ones. Also, only two throw blankets were in the house - one normal sized and one very small like a baby blanket. -Many of the lights didn't work, so the cabin was very dimly lit especially at night. There's a decent amount of natural light from the windows during the day, but because of proximity to the neighbors you don't get a lot of privacy if you lift up the blinds. We just opened the slats. There were a lot of of light switches that didn't seem to turn on anything, and you could see a lot of the lights in the ceiling weren't working. -The hot water didn't work. We stayed for two nights; the first night and morning the hot water was working although it took a while to warm up. When we returned to the cabin in the evening of our second night, the hot water wasn't working. We had no idea why since with the two of us we barely used any the day before. Given that we were leaving the cabin early the next morning, we just dealt with the problem, but this was a major issue compounded with how cold the cabin already was. TL;DR: lights, heating, & water need to be fixed.

Shaver lake rental
This poorly maintained property was the least expensive property and for good reason. Furniture was stained from human oils where the head rest. Vacasa rentals Mgmt was next door and their dumpsters were overflowing onto the street. They were not locked and many people were dumping trash. The shower was less than 2'x2' and would be impossible to use by a larger person. The kitchen is large however there was only one cereal bowl. The three TV remotes were very difficult to understand and no instructions were provided. The house is dark and the largest window in the living room had shades that were broken. I generally leave positive reviews, this is the exception
