Went for an afternoon in the spa and planned on dining in the restaurant in the evening. The pool had children in there so it wasn’t relaxing at all, and there was a wedding on so assumed that we would t be able to dine. There was no folder in the room as we were expected to use a QR code to access it, it wasn’t very user friendly. Wanted to know numbers for taxi firms and what time breakfast as none of these things were mentioned during check in. ( I don’t expect numbers for taxi firms) but it would have been nice for them to tell us what time breakfast was and where, and if there was actually the possibility of booking for the restaurant. Instead we had to go into town which cost us 25 pound in taxi fare. My friend wasn’t impressed with the bathroom as she said it was dusty in places

Out of town hotel but ideal for a weekend break using the spa and thermal suite. Rooms were a little tired but spacious. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Buffett breakfast worked well.

Beds very uncomfortable given that it was a premier room and pillows are the cheapest BM specials, food services ce was slow as was check in due to server / IT issues, I find it ridiculous that breakfast booked the evening before is £11 and not n the morning £18 why?

We had a nice stay and the hotel communal areas were lovely. The food was really nice. The pianist playing the keyboard in the bar was brilliant. Our bathroom had not been cleaned when we went in our room, however it was sorted as soon as I mentioned it while we were in the spa. The sink leaked the whole time we were there and therefore water on the floor. The windows were covered in a kind of opaque covering which was clearly old and peeling off. The paintwork was filthy. As we were only there overnight it did not spoil my time there although the wet floor was annoying.

A relaxing short stay.
Stayed here years ago with family, and decided to stay again with my partner. Restaurant and bar are great, with excellent pool/thermal spa services. Breakfast is a must. Only negative was service in all areas wasn't the best...may have been understaffed due to a wedding at the same time however.

The Mercure sal Brighton was excellent and I would stay again however one thing really let it down and that was the mattress, I bruised my let on the metal spring which was covered only by a thin cotton. The mattress is obviously past it's best as the springs poked out even when laying on it. Really not what you expect from a hotel of this calibre.

Terrible Place from outside the hotel and grounds beautiful the building itself is pretty but unclean. Found dead flies on bedroom floor so room couldn't have been cleaned prior bought it to the attention of reception staff which they moved us to another bedroom which bought a major problem as my husband took bags to new room walking in realised the room was already occupied as he heard someone say hello from bathroom within the bedroom also seen persons belongings I've NEVER come across such a BIG error in a hotel before and all we were given after all these mistakes were two free drinks but when my husband got to bar man who was serving him stated he is only allowed beer or wine which is disgusting due to all these major errors you believe hotel would offer alot more as these errors were of the hotel. Had a unsettled night sleep bed uncomfortable. Also Breakfast was terrible when it came to variety if you don't eat Pork you have no alternative.

The hotel is in beautiful grounds & surroundings. Theres plenty of parking & not too far to actual hotel with your luggage. The red carpet welcome to reception is a nice luxurious touch. Staff are extremely welcoming & friendly in the restaurant, reception & bar area. It is a characterful old beautiful building. Our room wasnt clean though thick dust behind the radiators & headboard, in the corners of the rooms, plenty of 8 legged lodgers & their webs, which clearly havent been cleaned in weeks not just days, there were dirt & dust on the bathroom bin, bath panel & in general. The shower whilst in use kept losing its pressure on & off every 10 seconds which was annoying. Toiletries are a nice smell & feel luxurious. Kettle, tea/coffee facilities were nice however there were no milk replenishment the following day so we had to come down to reception to ask for some more which isnt in the same building, we were put in the station masters house not in the main building. Breakfast was everything you could ask for & it was lovely 5*. Room 1 * im afraid. We had afternoon tea here & the gentleman was lovely & asked a few times if there was anything else we wanted, it was lovely - homemade cakes & sandwiches. Spa is large & pool nice & warm, plenty of space for people, hot tub nice & hot as was sauna & steam room. Towels given at spa reception. You can help yourself to tea/coffee/ water too. We would return though but would want to be in the main building.

The venue is amazing and set in beautiful grounds. The bar and restaraunt offered good value and options. Staff at breakfast never asked if all was ok with breakfast. Reception staff on checking out never asked if all was ok with the stay! Upon relaying our issue to the member of staff, no apology was given, just an acceptance of our feedback. The main issue was that the guests in the rooms in our immediate vicinity were loudly knocking on doors, allowing doors to slam shut after 1am and having very loud conversations in the corridor, this behaviour repeated at several times throughout the night.

I was initially impressed on arrival, but that quickly changed upon entering the building. I received poor directions to my room from a staff member who was confusedly reading a map. The room was outdated, dirty, and stuffy, with minimal and old electronics. After unpacking, I got ready for a shower and was mortified when another guest entered my room—we had been given the same key card! The receptionist then entered and insisted I pack up and return to reception, only to send me back to the same room. When my key card didn’t work on return, I headed back to reception with my belongings again, and they offered me the other room and a welcome drink as an apology. The new room was even worse: orange stains on the bath walls, dirty floors, damaged doors, and an overall unkempt appearance. I needed to work before an early meeting, but the Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room and there was no phone signal, leaving me unable to find another hotel. Feeling unsafe, uncomfortable and extremely dissatisfied, I decided to check out. By this time, it was 10 p.m., and the receptionist was indifferent to my decision to leave just an hour after check-in. The car park was pitch black with no lighting, making it difficult to navigate with my belongings, and I struggled to get out of the car park due to the darkness. I travel often for work, and this was by far my worst experience. Avoid this hotel at all costs!

I absolutely love staying here. Yes, some parts are a bit tired (only the gym and equipment!), but that doesn't affect the stay, the friendliness or the quality. The breakfasts are lovely, as are the staff. I love staying here.
