Despite bad reviews, I chose this hotel because it was a good price for Siena and conveniently located on the Via Francigena route. The staff were very friendly and check-in was easy, even though we had to go to the hotel next door to get the receptionist.
However, the room sucked. The air conditioner started making some obnoxiously loud noises as we were trying to fall asleep. We had to turn it off and use the oscillating fan, which must have been there because they know the AC is bad. Even with the window open and the fan on, it was hot and stuffy, despite it being a cool night outside. The bed was worn out and sagging in the center. There were dust bunnies in the corners, scuffs all over the walls, loose floor tiles, and the shower curtain was ineffective at keeping the water off the bathroom floor.
It was a roof over our heads, but in the end, we got what we paid for…
