A traditional stone villa with private pool in a stunning location

A rare example of an historic house- with all the modern comforts- in a stunning location.

Ayia Triada was built in the late 19th century by the current owners great grandfather where he produced wine, tchipouro( a local variant of ouzo) ,almonds olives, plums and many more on the 4 hectares of surrounding land. He thankfully chose a stunning location for his house with views out to sea to the neighbouring islands and across the valleys of olive groves and pine trees.
The unspoiled lovely village of Glossa is close by with its shops tavernas and cafes, but not close enough to disturb the peace and tranquility of this special spot. And the nearby beaches of Perivoliou and Hondro Georgos are also delightful as are the many secret coves and beaches in this area of special natural beauty.

The house itself has just been renovated with great respect for the traditional materials of the area and has revealed again the fantastic quality stonework of those master builders of times gone by and the wonderful proportions of this Venetian style of architecture.

It is a 2 story house built into the hillside and as is normal in many houses on the island the upstairs is one big living /kitchen/dinning room . It is in fact 9x6 meters with an open beamed ceiling creating lots of light and space and with an entrance into the rear courtyard and gardens and a balcony at the front facing the valleys below it has plenty of access and sea views.

The kitchen is well equipped and modern with a moulded cement island and limestone floors- large double-doored refrigerator and all the appliances you could need. Next to it is a dining area, although most people will probably want to eat in the outside spaces, and then a large wooden floored sitting area with sofas ,modern and antique ,and chairs to relax on. A tv and air conditioning is provided.

The traditional painted balustrade leads you down a modern staircase to the lower level where the second entrance is. Here are 2 generous bedrooms each with a large en-suite bathroom and a walk in wardrobe. One has a double bed and the other 2 singles which can be joined together to make a double.. Again they have limestone floors and the bathrooms have traditional tiled floors and rather more modern tiles for the walls. All linen and towels are provided.

The whole house has typical windows, shutters and doors of the area all painted in a lovely olive green with local lacework curtains. Fabrics, antiques and objects from the family also add to the sense of history and place that being in Ayia Triada brings.

Arriving at the house after the few minutes drive from Glossa there is a large off road parking area to leave your car surrounded by one of the surviving vineyards. You then walk past the barbecue area to enter the rear courtyards and garden and access the top room of the house.

The barbecue is an important feature in Greek life and so is a large covered area featuring a full sized barbecue and a separate wood oven .There is enough space for a full sized table in case the weather should be inclement.

Past there is the 10 meter long shaded veranda which runs the length of the building. And then the newly built parterre garden and more terraces and spaces to sit,eat , sunbathe or watch the boats go bye. There are fabulous views across the Aegean to the neighbouring islands of Alonissos and its uninhabited satellites of Ayia Panagia and Gioura (famous for its wild goats) from here.

On the other side down below the house is the families own church, which give the house its name, as it was normal in those times to build a church to give thanks for good fortune. The church is separate from the house and doesn’t overlook it but it’s worth going inside to see the simple but lovely interior and the icons painted in the byzantine style.
It is only in use for its annual festival so guests will not be disturbed by its activities.

All around the house you will see the lovely pottery jars (pithari πιθαρι) that were used to make the wine- with some big enough to have 2 people inside- and indeed on this site there is evidence of wine making going back over 3,000 years-there is much archaeology just lying on the surface of the fields you now it was a busy place.

The front of the house ,where you see the best view on its classical venetian shape and style , also is a great place to relax with a mature lime tree (tillia) for shade. And views down the valleys.

The area around Glossa is perfect for walking, swimming ,sightseeing and of course just relaxing and Ayia Triada is the perfect base to experience the traditions and the nature of this lovely unspoiled place.

Absolutely Stunning Villa & Location
Poulcheria & Nikos, your villa is simply outstanding. It is absolutely as described, however, being there in person takes to another level. So many beautiful areas to relax outside with stunning views of the Aegean and surrounding countryside. From intial booking and throughout our stay, communication with the hosts was incredibly responsive. Nikos was amazing, even when our departure ferry unexpectedly changed for Glossa to Skopelos town, Nikos came to our rescue by transporting luggage for 4 adults from the villa to Skopelos port. This is truly a place to relax and enjoy the surroundings, but having your own transport is essential. Thanks again and hope to return some day.

An amazing property in a spectacular location with fabulous owners!
Poulcheria and Nikos were the most warm, lovely, generous hosts! Poulcheria was very prompt at answering any messages both before and during our stay, she helped us with arranging car hire and was very quick to respond to any other queries we had. Nikos met us at the port and took us up to the villa, he gave us some of his delicious homemade wine and homegrown vegetables, it was lovely gesture and very much appreciated! We expected the villa to be lovely, but it far surpassed our expectations. The setting is simply stunning!!! There are beautiful views everywhere you look and plenty of lovely seating areas to relax and enjoy the vistas. The sunsets were amazing! The gardens are lovely and very well kept. It is a very private and beautiful location, you can not help but instantly relax! The villa is just exceptional, it is the perfect blend of old and new. It has been beautifully and tastefully restored but retains bags of character and a sense of history. It is well equipped and kept immaculately clean by the maids. The church is just gorgeous, we preferred it to the Mamma Mia church which you can see from the road into the villa. We did not expect the bedrooms to have air conditioning so that was an unexpected bonus, we did not have to use it all the time because the down stairs rooms were cooler, but it was appreciated on some of the very hot nights. Our children loved the colour changing lights in the pool at night and enjoyed many a late night swim. The pool is lovely and is kept beautifully clean by the pool man who visited early in the morning. Our daughter loved the piano in the lounge area, we weren't expecting it to be there and it made her holiday! Glossa is a only a short drive away and is a gorgeous, characterful, traditional town, with a lovely square to sit and have a drink in with the friendly locals. We visited the restaurant Agnanti many times, it has lovely views and superb staff and food. Skopelos town is gorgeous, with atmospheric cobbled streets and some lovely bars and restaurants. The whole island is just beautiful, with gorgeous scenery and lovely beaches with crystal clear waters. It has become a new favourite and we can't wait to return. Thank you Poulcheria and Nikos for the most amazing holiday!

A magical property
We loved our stay at this magical home. The views, the smells (star jasmine), the pool, the design, the attention to detail, the welcome bread, wine, and water…everything was thoughtfully and beautifully done. The driveway is intimidating to say the least but it’s worth it for the experience. This may be my favorite vacation rental ever. We did not want to leave.

Gorgeous house with gorgeous view
This house is located just a short drive from Glossa and was perfect for our group. The house is beautiful and located on a gorgeous property with amazing views. Everything was extremely clean, and the host left us a bottle of wine, bread, and bottled water. The house is a few km's from town so you are surrounded by trees and hills with beautiful grounds. The host was very accommodating and helpful. Highly recommend this house as a rental when on Skopelos.

This is a must see home and property! We had the most lovely stay. We appreciated all the extras that Poulcheria and Nikolas did for us- the escort to the property, the delicious bread, homemade wine, help with the car rental, and the answers to so many of our questions. We loved your home, the lovely linen curtains, the lush gardens, the lemon trees, the spring flowers, beautiful pool, outside dining areas, and the views of the sea below us. Our stay was perfect! Very high standard villa in a stunning location, albeit down quite a steep track-(need 4x4 )overlooking quiet north east forest/beaches in distance, yet in Glossa in 5mins. Fantastic BBQ area , terraces with different views, pool for sunset swims- perfect! Host very helpful and their own wine and jam delicious. Perfect for 2 couples. We can’t wait to return!

Beautifully finished villa in countryside
The villa is beautifully finished with large living room/ kitchen and two bedrooms. The outdoor areas are wonderful. You are not overlooked with lovely pool looking over the valley below and lots of seating areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Only (very small) negatives are the air con is only in the living room and not in the bedrooms (although there are fans), and there are lots of biting insects around with especially persistent horse flies. We bought fly swats to keep them at bay. Overall a wonderful villa, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Outstanding property in a beautiful location
One of the best holidays we have had. The house itself is tastefully decorated and if anything even better than the photographs on the web site. It‘s location, high on the hill overlooking the sea provides stunning views from several locations. We were met at Loutraki port by the brother of the owner, who made us very welcome, pointing out where everything was and how it worked etc. Many many small points helped to make it an excellent stay, for example waiting while we purchased a few supplies from the local supermarket on our way up to the villa, the pool was cleaned regularly, there was a mid week clean and change of towels and bed clothes. The Island itself is as per the brochures, no mass tourism but many lovely beaches and good swimming. Eating it was always a pleasure wherever we were but the local restaurant Agnanti in Glossa was outstanding with excellent food and an amazing view from the table over the port. Thankyou Poulharia for helping us to experience a holiday we will always remember

Modern traditional artistically renovated villa with breathtaking views and so much character
This beautiful modern villa has so much to offer. A breathtakimg view no matter from which window you look out. Tranquile seaview on the horison on one side and mountain valley view from the back. The stone villa is surrounded by flowers, shrubs, herbs, trees and endless views. Every inch of the place has been artistically and tastefully put together and you can feel the homelyness and love that went into this place. Surrounded by wildlife like butterflies, cacadas, the friendly kitty that comes to visit us, the geckos, ants and crickets. It is all in harmony with the surroundings and the peaceful atmosphere of this family home. Every attention to details is on offer, even a little outhouse with some spare bottles of local wine to try (as long as you replace them with new bottles ofcourse), the pool boy that comes 3 times a week, the family photos on the wall that gives you a sense of the history there and even fresh flowers on the table upon arrival. Ive never stayed in a place so perfect that I wanted to buy it. The little ponie comes to the fence in the vineyard to say hi, he is friendly. The place has about 7 different cosy spots to sit in the sun and adore the view from all angles. Every morning we would sit under the pine tree and sip coffee whilst adoring the sea on the horizon and watch the boats cruise by. The villa even has binoculars to do some bird watching or boat watching into th3 distance. The place is equiped with a perculator coffee machine which was delightful every morning. The openness about the lounge and kitchen means its nice to hang out whilst watching a football match and cook dinner together. The sofa is huge and comfortable enough for 4 adults to watch a movie side by side. The bbq area ia huge but it was so hot we didnt get to use it. We were swimming everyday and dining out alot. The little chapel is so lovely too it adds a sense of history and culture to the place. We will always love to come back to this little gem of a place. The owner Poulxer was so friendly and excellent communication from start of our booking amd throughout our stay. She was on a trip but her sister Anthoula and her kids welcomed us and showed us the map and indicated the best spots to go to on the island. The airconditioned villa was so refreshing after a long day out galavanting. The only tricky part is the steep narrow road leading to the villa that can make you abit nervous but after a couple of days you get used to it. Love skopelos!!

Probably the most peaceful place on earth - stunning views - beautiful house
We have just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely house , and we are still spellbound by the beauty and tranquility of this magical place. I don't think I have ever stayed in a place so peaceful. Unobstructed sea view to one side and a beautiful valley on the other - stunning views, even for Greece! The only distractions are the sound of waves and cicadas and a small neighbouring church which is not in use. Even the universe is placed perfectly with sunrise right in the sea in front of you, sunsets over the valley, and the full moon rising like a big orange ball over Alonissos, and millions of stars visible when the moon is not up. The house itself is an old farmhouse, so beautifully and respectfully renovated up to very comfortable modern standards, but with a historic feeling, intensified with the old pottery, lovely handmade rugs and the family fotos. Perfectly mixed with modern comfort. The perfect place to relax and reload. And yet, only a few kilometers from the charming village of Glossa, and 5-10 kilometers from all the activities and beaches of the west side of the island. The last few hundred meters of the road is a dirt road with a quite steep decline, but after a few times you get it, and are greatly rewarded! The island has so much to offer, hiking, biking, diving, kayaking, sailing, or just enjoying the beautiful quiet beaches. It is very rare to have nothing at all to complain about - this is one of those times. We would go back anytime!

Great house in wonderful setting
We were excited to be the first guests to stay since the house has been renovated. Its a wonderful mix of the old and traditional farm house and modern design providing a beautiful and very comfortable house. The house is only five minutes drive from Glossa down some steep tracks, a bit scary at first but if you follow Poulheria's advice its fine. The views from the house are to the green hills and sea on all sides and well away from other houses its very quiet. Outside there are lots of different places to sit and eat or just sit and look out - at least six in different and special places around the house and gardens. The garden is newly planted with masses of lovely plants including lavender and lots of herbs. And below the house a small horse belonging to the owners visits in the evening. The small chapel next to the house is wonderful and a lot more lovely than the chapel now called the 'MaMa Mia chapel' (that is worth a visit too and can be seen close by as you drive to the hosue). We loved our stay, the upstairs and living area is open and spacious with windows and views on all sides. We really enjoyed coming upstairs in the morning to the lovely light sunny room. It was great to cook in the house with a well designed kitchen area, we didn't get to use the outside bbq area - that is large, traditional and well equipped. It was very hot when we were there but the air con is very good and the bedrooms downstairs cool. The bathrooms are great with very good showers. There is a real sense of history in the house - including a lovely set of family photos on the wall. And Poulheria's stories of how the family worked the land and used the house is really interesting. Poulheria is a warm, welcoming and fun host. She and her family have worked really hard to renovate the house and equip it so well. We had a fantastic time exploring the island - visiting different quiet beaches and swimming every day. We also enjoyed a days kayaking (local company with an office on the road just outside Glossa old town. We had a great stay and after a days exploring and swimming we really enjoyed coming back to the house - just being there is very special and lovely. There is no pool but with the wonderful beaches nearby it would seem a real shame to spend time in a pool.
